You don't know who Despero is? He's not a minor villain in the DC Universe, you know.

I played two of the Flintstone games. Played through all the Genesis/Mega Drive version so it gets my vote.

Justice League is tough. Quality Control must have been lax the day the game shipped or just a late release.
Snes looks better in the graphics.

This match goes to the Genesis/MD!

OK, let's compare another classic arcade port for both consoles.  Let's look at Ms. Pac-Man!

There is very little in this but I prefer the slightly more vibrant colours of the Mega Drive version and the better sound effects too.

TrekMD

Yep, this is an instance where the port is pretty much the same on both systems.  I do find sound better on the MD, though.

The control on the MD version is shit - the dpad handling is atrocious and turning a corner is a lottery.

Comparing games using youtube is totally invalid and this is a case in point.

I'm also detecting an awful lot of MD fanboyism - its a great console but anyone who seriously thinks the sound and colour palette of the MD is superior to the SNES is wearing Sega toned sunglasses.

It's fascinating that even after all these years this bias continues.....maybe I'm a victim of it myself (I have to admit being slightly on the SNES side - but over the years I actually have found comparing the consoles impossible because of the difference in libraries) but I played a lot of both consoles in the day and have both today and they have their strengths - but really - sound and colour is not on the MD side of the balance book.

But I am not comparing using You Tube, I own the MD version and havn't had any problems with the controls at all. Not even in the slightest.

I have also played the SNES version before too.

I prefer the colour tones in the in MD, that has nothing to do with which machine has the larger colour palette. It's my opinion and sorry if you don't agree with it.

As far as Pit-Fighter is concerned it is not even close. The SNES version is a horrible broken mess of a game with no redeeming features what so ever.

The Mega Drive version however is fantastic and the only thing it is missing is the scaling.

TrekMD

I've played neither version of Ms. Pac-Man since I've only had a Genesis for a week (and I don't have that game).  Saying that I prefer the sound of the game on one system over the other is just that, a preference, not a claim of superiority.

No quibble with that - the SNES version was a piss-poor early cash-in - that's for sure and it probably sold pretty well with the small selection of games that were around the time of its release.....however the only thing i'd say is that the original game was hardly anything to write home about anyhow...

(sorry - amended The Laird's post by mistake - clicked on edit instead of quote - sorry again!!) :-

Really surprised to hear that about the control - I really like this game and have played the MD version more than the SNES version but the shoddy controls almost spoil it for me.

Pit-Fighter is probably my favourite arcade game of all time, so I don't agree with you here either  :10:

Actually watching that video of MD Pitfighter I have at long last figured out what the very tinny (though distinctive) MD sound reminds me of - all MD games (or at least most) sound-wise remind me of some of the Atari cabinets back in the day - Paperboy, Klax and Marble Madness spring to mind,.....maybe there was a similar chipset used?
