We have a new member on our forums who is working on developing a new retro magazine.  One of the topics looks at people's choice for top 5 best games for the SNES and the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive.  So, I figured it would be good to start a thread doing comparisons of the games that appeared on both systems.  So, let's get started!

Both look enjoyable and are very different, but the SNES version seems better to me. Especially in the graphics and sound department. Yeah, definitely the SNES version.

From watching the videos, I like the SNES version more as well.  I haven't played either version, so I can't speak from that aspect, but from these videos I'd pick the SNES.

What about Aladdin?

I have played both and think they are excellent, but the MD version is the best out of the two by some distance for me.

I prefer the MD version of Aladdin, music sounds better, sound effects sound better and graphics seem bigger and more detailed.

I have never played the Batman & Robin game but I would say the SNES edges it slightly.

Aladdin is a different matter however, the Mega Drive is definitely the superior version for me.

Crusto

Another couple of excellent titles.

Again, loved both versions but the technically superior SNES version edges it for me.

Whoa, this thread took off!  Cool!  As for the two games that have been posted.  My vote goes for Aladdin on the Genesis.  That one had me at the opening sequence.  :)  Insofar as Ghouls´n´Ghosts, the SNES gets my vote.

Another close call here...

I never had the privilege of playing the MD version, but was a massive fan of Contra 3 back in the day so I'm already biased toward the SNES version. The SMD version looks fantastic too, but loses out a bit in terms of looks and sounds.

As far as Ghouls 'N' Ghosts is concerned the SNES takes the win.

For Contra I will also give it to the SNES, but then Konami's games were always better on the SNES than the MD. It just seemed that they never put the same effort into their Mega Drive releases  :2:

For Contra the SNES gets my vote as well.  It's just better. :) Now, let me add two more comparisons.  This time the game is Earthworm Jim.

That's a fact, Konami games were awesome on the SNES.

Batman & Robin: SNES wins but the MD versions looks nice, never tried it on the MD tough.

Aladdin: MD wins, it's great!

Ghouls n Ghosts: MD version is an almost perfect port of the arcade and the SNES is very different, both are good games and both deserve a good try.

Contra: SNES wins

Earthworm Jim: I had the MD version and never played the SNES one, graphically both look excellent but SNES sound is better IMO. It's an attractive game but never grew up on me...
Don't be surprised, my broken English is legendary!

Crusto

I think the MD version sneaks this one, just about.

How about another world?

I played both back in the day and apart from better graphics and sound I also found the SNES version a lot easier to play. The controls felt very awkward on the Megadrive version, the Snes is a clear winner here for me.

Wow the snes version looks awful with its lower resolution, was just playing the Amiga version the other day, great back in the day, tbh the game is too simple and repetitive now, like SOTB the graphics pushed you to play back then, you just notice it's flaws nowadays.
