Oh yeah, on the second post to boot... totally blind!  :o

Rogue Trooper

The 2600 version makes it to GAMEStm Conversion Catastrophe (although they DO say the Intellivision was just as bad and Mattel was so ashamed of it, the manufactured the Intellivision II not to play the cartridge).

They say of the 2600 version:

Donkey Kong looks like a cross between the Honey Monster and The Gingerbread man, barrels look like choc chip cookies and that rumour persists that Coleco sabotaged the Atari and Intellivision ports, to make it's console look superior.

Go read the interview we did here with the actual programmer and see the answer he gave when I posed that rumour to him!

Maybe you oughta send a link to the GAMEStm office? :-)

Well, the commercial version of DK on the 2600 is going to blown away by the new homebrew version being developed.  Check it out:  DK VCS

So what, they gave him even less time to work on the Intellivision version?

I don't buy it.  Perhaps that was the case for the Atari 2600 (we hear the same things from the makers of the Pac-Man port and the E.T. game), but the Intellivision had more sophisticated hardware.

It really looks like they just gave the project to an intern, for it follows the implementation style of the very old primitive games that were first made for the console in the late 70s--but crappier.

For the record I agree, I think he is just covering his arse so he doesn't look bad.

I came across these two Donkey Kong clones for the Tangerine Oric computer the other day.

The first one is Dinky Kong and the second game is a version of the Nintendo classic that was programmed in just 4k the same as the 2600 conversion! You will also notice that looks and plays almost exactly the same as the Game & Watch version.

That 4K Nintendo version is just like a watch game.

Yeah as I said it's near identical to the Game & Watch version:

I wonder how big that version is on the Game & Watch system.  :)

So, the talk of the internet today has been this mod of DK where Pauline is the one rescuing Mario!  Looks like a programmer's daughter wanted to play as Pauline, so he was happy to oblige.
