Maybe this is not a true latest retro buy but I hope to rig this up this week with my Jaguar and see if there is any truth in the hype.

Cool, interested to hear how it works for you. I got a cheap one as part of a bundle one time and the picture looked good but it messed up the colour. Everything that should have been blue was bright green which did not look good lol.

So, that upscales the output to 1080p?
In theory yes. I recently saw a topic about these little boxes on Facebook and decided it was time to give one a go. I know there is a Japanese box out there which does do the job well, but it is expensive and the instructions are not translated. The fors and against make your head spin so I will see for myself. And yes, in theory the analog signal is converted to digital etc etc. It may be shit lol I will let you know 😉

Wow, well I go into this with no technical know how but as the average consumer. It is a simple box so set-up is easy. I will try to get some decent pictures both before and after but I have not had much luck photographing the tv but I will try. I did get a composite cable a while back which was much more convenient to connect than the scart. My understanding is scart gives a superior image but I can't tell the difference to be honest. With this little gadget, the difference should be much more significant. I will try tomorrow if time and energy permit.

That is cool.  If it works properly, that'll be a nice way to upgrade the output of the consoles.  Right now I'm debating whether or not to mod my older systems to at least do A/V output since I only have one TV left that will work with them.  It may be time to do the mods.

My tv numbers are dwindling as well. Bought a cheap upscaler from Amazon but the Jaguar looks like ass on a 32" lcd. I need to get a proper one that'll suffice but the Japanese one Cryptic mentioned is too expensive imo and they aren't being made anymore (so I've read) due to certain parts not being manufactured any longer. So, that doesn't sound like a good alternative as the price will probably sky rocket. If anyone finds a good product please share the knowledge! :)

Ps1 today, missed out on a few megadrive games :/.

There was a lot of 48k games but I've never heard of it until I googled it lol.

thats the thing with collecting, you learn new things all the time.

Now as for that upscaller, I found hardly any difference to be honest. I have a few picture on my phone which I will try and upload. I will say that Doom seemed a bit brighter and crisper but overall, I wouldn't bother.  Oh and the scart lead fits in loosely so it has to be placed down carefully. I had no problems with the signal and the audio was fine.

Ok the first picture is with the scart cable plugged directly into the TV
The second is via the upscaller/HDMI

I am aware that it is wide screen. I normally set the screen to 4.3 so as to avoid stretching.

Cool, I just don't know what the best option is for when the last CRT tv dies.

That's the dilemma. One can only hope that 📺 manufacturers realise the need for good quality built in upscallers. Alas, I suspect we have already passed that point.
