Family Dollar had both Colecovision Flashback and Intellivision Flashback this week. I didn't know that there would be any difference in the Colecovision FB units, so took the plunge. I am waiting on Dollar General for my Intellivision FB, and they don't have any of those in stock yet. My overall impression is , "Yes!" I am going to try my ball grip modded CV controllers on it soon because the controllers are too much like the stock CV controllers, highly uncomfortable for lengthy sessions. I also wish they could have gotten some more popular licenses like DK, DK Jr, Popeye, Gyruss, Keystone Kapers, Pitfall II, and Galaxian (the best home port of that game for that generation). Even some of the better more recent home brew ports like Elevator Action, Ye Ar Kung Fu, Cix, and Lock 'n Chase would have been excellent. Maybe for CVFB 2 next year, at least we can hope.

Still wonder when AtGames will release 5200 flashback...

I don't think the standard controllers work on the Flashback and vice versa.  I know the Intellivision controllers don't work because of something they did with the wiring.  It requires an adapter that Nurmix made and is selling.  I don't believe the same thing has been made for the ColecoVision controllers. 

It is unfortunate they couldn't get licenses for several of the best known games for the ColecoVision but they do have a good selection.  I suppose that leaves the door open for a ColecoVision Flasback 2!

Having listened to the Colecovision podcast I think I remember @willie mention it's possible to use other controllers but it will need an adapter.

Other thing I am wondering with the new CVFB and INTVFB units, is whether they can be modded to add a cartridge slot like the Atari FB 2 allowed. If so, then sweetness, because my entire game library for each system can be played on these consoles with a little modding.

That is a good question and I've not seen anything said about that yet.  I'm sure someone will try to do it.

I've heard that there are some emulation problems already, so I'm not sure if it will be possible, but I'm no expert.

On a side note, I tweeted to Colecoevision rights holder about Dollar General, and this is what they tweeted back to me (I hope they don't wait until Thanksgiving):

OK, I've been following a thread on AA where there's been discussion about the CV controllers. It appear that, while it is possible to get the joystick to work with an adapter, the keypad will not work at all and there doesn't seem to be a way around it.

If the DG stores are holding out until Thanksgiving, they are massively losing out on potential sales. Family Dollar and Toys R Us have had it on their shelves for about a month now.
