Just saw an update on AA about the Colecovision arcade controller kickstarter. They have figured out a way to make it compatible with the Atari 2600, 7800, and most 8-bit computers as well. They aren't increasing the cost either so this makes it a much better deal.

Here's the Kickstarter page again for anyone who wants to check it out.

I think It's still too pricey for me but it's tempting!

Shadowrunner

Well I decided to back this after all. . .

I'll be able to use it with my Colecovision, Flashback, 7800, and probably my XE as well so I figured it was worth it. It's been funded already with 2 days to go. Looking forward to it :)

Nice one, you must have some coin burning a hole in your pocket.

Shadowrunner

Yeah, it's not cheap but I really cut back on my retro spending lately and was feeling the itch! Plus my Colecovision never gets used because I hate the stock controllers, so I needed something and the alternatives on ebay are just as expensive or more.

Cool!  Let us know how you like it.  Even if it is just to make the rest of us jealous!  LOL

Here is an Indiegogo one that should be interesting.  This is a pocket Windows 10 computer for gaming.  Check out all the details here:  A Laptop Fitting in Your Pocket.

I'm not sure if it's for me but it's a very cool idea!

TrekMD

I think it is a nifty concept also but, like Shadow, I'm not sure it is something I want.

Here is a new Kickstarter that should be of interest:  Box Art - A Gaming Documentary by Rob McCallum.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8Vkvx5nrPA

"Box Art - A Gaming Documentary" will explore everything about box art, cover art, the artists responsible for making these images, their processes and more!

This is your chance to help make this film a reality, secure a copy, and snag some exclusive content and items.

Before game trailers and the Internet age, even before magazines, our first contact with video games was the cover art on the front of the box. That's the image that "sold" the game. It was the promise of an experience, and an extrapolation of game play regardless of the game's actual graphical capability.

• But who created those images?
• Why was it on a box?
• Why did some games have different covers in different parts of the world?
• What lead to the change between covers that were painted on canvas and covers that were designed in a computer?

This exciting new documentary from Rob McCallum (Nintendo Quest, Kittie: Origins/Evolutions, Power of Grayskull) will look at video game box art from all eras, for both consoles and PC, foreign and domestic releases and variations, and showcase both the famous and infamous stories that surround the gaming cover art we know and love.

I'd seen this, simply divine, a bit strapped for cash this month, but I'm hoping next month to back this,, incredible looking film, the intro video much of cost a bomb, animated composites are seriously expense to do. So they have the professionalism to do something off the hook with this film.

A new book has surfaced and is been supported and endorsed by us here at Retro Video Gamer and ask that all RVG members and affiliates help spread the word for this wonderful book, citing a world first in sight to the Atari ST demo scene exclusively, will unveil stories of how limitations of a computer designed to cater for business ideals and not a machine that could show tricky only dreamt off, well read on.

The book will be printed in Berlin with the highest possible lithographic standard on offset printing machines. It will be 230 x 170 mm in size and uses 130g thick matte illustration printing paper. So if you open it up it is a huge landscape format of 460 x 170 mm, which is like laying down two Atari screens onto your table, next to each other. Thread Stitching, The book comes as Hardback edition with thread stitching, which is expensive, but very reliable – you can completely open the book and nothing gets lost in the fold and nothing breaks up....

The Anthology

The first volume is only the beginning. For the Demoscene history we plan to release a Trilogy. Each volume focuses on a special timespan with its own dramatic story, highs and lows, but also can be enjoyed standalone.

The Story of Thalion

Completely recruited from the demo scene a huge part of the book is dedicated to the technically and artistic brilliance of Thalion. Games like Chambers of Shaolin, Enchanted Lands, Dragonflight and Wings of Death squeezed out the last bit of the ST's chipset and proved that there was more fun behind this grey shaped business case. Founded by Erik Simon and Holger Flöttmann (see picture) in Germany well-known sceners like The Carebears and The Lost Boys took part in the game development and talk about their experiences in those days.
