Sounds excellent! That is why I posted Ocean Detox specifically, because it has some really nice twists on the theme.

Yeah, it definitely had some nice improvements and additions to it over the original. Depending on how the rest of this project goes, maybe a 2 player option can be done and have the boxes/targets be color coded for each player, so only Player 1 can destroy the red boxes and player 2 can only destroy the blue, so you'd have to use some teamwork to complete each level :D

This is one of the things I hate most about development, I get overly ambitious and want to add in so many things lol

Quote from: "dra600n"Thanks for posting the screen shot, Carl. I wasn't sure if Facebook would have any issues with embedding pictures on forums, so I didn't even both trying and I was too lazy to FTP into my site lol.

Laird, thank you!

For those that are familiar with Blitz!, I have a question for ya:

When you're flying by, are you limited on how many bombs you can drop? The videos I've seen show people dropping one per fly by, sometimes 2, so I'm not sure if there's a limit, or if you can't drop a bomb until the first one has finished it's path of destruction. Can anyone give me some insight on this please? :) (that means I'll have to include SRAM information in the tutorial as well).

Thanks for the compliments so far! I'm really enjoying writing the tutorials and other misc information :D

Hi No problems!

You can only drop a bomb at a time, so when bomb routine is finished, the game will let you drop another.

How about powerups! for achievements?  one missile to fire ahead or a super bomb that will wipe out a whole building in one strike!

Or on the other hand you could also get powerdowns! slow the bomb or re-build a tower!, as mentioned a vs mode could work, for every tower you hit , the vs player get another tower or something.
but I would get the game right first. You know when its right when you are more angry at yourself for failing and stop blaming the game.

Demo Rom/Tutorial Rom done :) I don't want to piss anyone off lol. I'll begin writing the tutorial now, though I don't think I'll be able to have it finished for a few days.

Things added to this final demo/tutorial rom:
- HUD added
- Life meter added
- scoring added
- collision detection for the plane
- "YOU WIN" screen (the lose screen just ends the game :P)

Source code available upon request, though it'll be available in the tutorial in the next few days (still need to clean up the code a bit). Should run 100% on real (and clone) hardware if anyone wants to test it out on a flash cart or make their own carts for it. Source code will be free to edit, modify, and distribute as anyone see's fit, would also prefer credit, but it's not required. Graphics are currently used without permission (as stated by finding them in Google images), though I will contact the appropriate artists prior to an actual release or hire to the graphics (or do them myself).

Really excellent project this! Would be good if we could find a pixel artist.

This is really good, you should be pleased with your work so far, plus the fact you are using this to teach others Kudos to you.

Thank you for the kind words :)

Thanks for continuing with these tutorials!  Er, any chance you'll re-create those nifty postings on binary operations in BEX?  I'll be leaning heavily on battery backed RAM for my game and shifting bits and 8-bit bytes around is boggling me :p

Awesome work fella... Really looking forward to the tutorial now. :113:

Sorry for the delay on the tutorial. I'll try to get something up this weekend for it before I leave for vacation.

Theloon, which ones are you referring to? Let me know which ones specifically and I'll recreate them :)

I was stupid and never archived them so I don't remember the specifics.  I do remember thinking they'd be useful for shoving 8-bit values into SAVE RAM.  Also, using individual bits in a byte for boolean logic.

I think BEX was just not made for proper handling of bits and bytes.  I think you had to create functions that converted values into strings and back :p
