Not really  :P

There are a lot of videos and guides around already. But if there's something specific you want to know then you can ask.

Thanks Vyo! What is the fastest time you have completed a game?

Vyothric

Er...Outrun maybe? I don't really count that though.

There are a lot of games that can be completed in less than an hour or even half an hour. Mainly 2D platformers, but also things like Streets of Rage.

A/X-101 on the Mega CD & Burning Soldier on the 3DO are also pretty short.

If you just mean games that I can complete relatively quickly compared to how long they would take the first time then it'd probably be something like Diddy Kong Racing.

onthinice

Wow! I have never unlocked everything on Diddy kong Racing. I always get sidetracked. No pun intended. I start to play and someone will stop over. Then we always end up in two player racing.

Do you ever time yourself Vyo to see if you can best yourself? Or do you play just to complete the games?

Vyothric

I've spent quite a bit of time getting best times for certain levels/tracks on DKR & Goldeneye, but generally I find the idea of speed-running pretty tedious. Back in the day my sister would print out tables for DKR & Goldenyee and we'd write our times down. All my friends would add their times too.

Also, back then you had more time between games so you may as well. Now, there are so many games I could be playing that normally as soon as I've seen the credits, that's it, I'm off to the next game.

onthinice

I understand. So many games so little time. My problem was growing up when games did not have an ending. On the 2600 it was always about high scores. Thanks again for your insight and time.

Played Jaguar XJ220 on the MegaCd for a while, then went on to Zool 2 on the CD32 to complete a few levels.

I love Jaguar XJ220! (and Zool for that matter)

I have been playing some Lynx stuff over the last couple of days for review purposes:

Para Lemi
Puzzle 2000
Fission
Marble Madness
Chip-8
Bubble Trouble

Rogue Trooper

XJ220 was the 1st game i bought for my MCD (and only thing out on it for a while after), i hated racing games and wanted something to show off my new toy, sadly intro aside, it made very little use of the hardware (CD music in game) from what i can recal.

:-(

It uses hardware scaling too to scale all the sprites and road side objects.

Rogue Trooper

I'm probably being too harsh on it and it might well have been the 1st MCD game to use the scaling hardware throughout game, but it looked bland to myself and did'nt scream OMG that's amazing! in a way something like the later Batman Returns driving sections did.

Bear in mind i'd just forked out £270 just for an add-on, for something that was supposed to blow the SNES and Mode 7 out of the water (which it later did), i was really looking for huge sprites etc being thrown around, something that was leaps ahead of what the std MD could do, so came away rather unimpressed at the time.

Mire Mare
