Completed Revenge of Shinobi (Mega Drive) - Of all the games I've completed, this is probably the one that I attempted, and failed at, the most number of times before doing so. And after finally beating the last boss, I find out I didn't do it quickly enough and got the bad ending. Yeah, well, sod this game. I'm not doing it again.  :P

Rogue Trooper

Been going through Taito Legends (1+2) on Xbox:

Had crack at Ninja Kids, Nastar (Rastan 2-Bigger sprites and you re-spawn where you died, but otherwise not a patch on 1st game)+ Rastan been played so far.

Vyothric

Completed Chuck Rock (Mega CD) - Well that was shorter than I expected.

I recently played "D2K" and "He-Man: Master of the Universe" for the Intellivision, as part of the HSC at AtariAge.  This weekend I'll be playing Lock-N-Chase.

Yesterday, in between breaks from work, I play-tested a new and upcoming Intellivision home-brew by GroovyBee (Mark Ball), called "Rocketeer."  He just released a teaser demo and it shows great potential.  Plus, it looks gorgeous.

It's Jetpac from the Spectrum!

Looks like a good version of it too  8)

TrekMD

I have to download the ROM to test it out.

Going to the final frontier, gaming...

DoDon-effiing-Pachi. Have my white import Saturn set up with my CRT rotated and I'm seeing bullet patterns in my sleep.

I'm playing on 1 credit.

Can no-miss level1 and 2 but for some reason can't get past level 3 on 1 credit. I'm pretty low skilled at shmups but I thought I'd be doing better after spending some time on it. Have been at this for 4-5 days now, an hour or so every day.

And as for chaining - can't seem to crack 90 on level 1 - was stuck on 70 for a few days but I think I can see how to bridge the gap to keep it going - but then I screwed up and blew it at 90 - should be able to get a 140 combo at least on level 1.

Ho hum..

Did I mention that this game is quite superb?

A few comments about this...
DoDonPachi is awesome. And TATE mode looks so much better than the horizontal mode. I think it loads higher resolution graphics data from disc on the mode change.

If you have a quality PC controller you might also like Crimzon Clover. It's an indie Japanese shmup that's similar to DDP. There's a demo available here: http://indiegames.com/2010/01/indie_gam ... lover.html

I play shmups and arcade games on 1 credit too. The challenge of seeking perfection. :) I really like going for high scores on combo based shmups... huge replay value. Added challenge to allow some enemies to survive for a few extra seconds so that you can extend combo chains. I also usually play shmups on max difficulty. Some of the recent shmups don't even have a combo meter on the normal difficulty. You have to play on max difficulty or the full scoring rules aren't even in play.

Also, are you using a Saturn pad or arcade stick? The Saturn pad is great, but for me an arcade stick gives much more accurate control for shmups and I can get much higher combos/scores.

Played some INVS (Yaroze Classics) on the Nuon. Excellent Galaga inspired game with a variety of enemy and weapon types. Lots of great ideas. Brutal difficulty though since you only have one life and have to collect the bits of debris that rain down after destroying enemies to fill your shield meter.

Been playing Return of Double Dragon on the SFC which I adore. Really technical fighter and despite ropey visuals, well worth playing is it is one of the best in the genre.

Also completed chapter 1 of Doom on the SNES. Obviously it isn't very smooth but I like playing it on the 16 bit console. It is impressive when you strip down how much they got in.

Got owned on master level of F-Zero. Death Wind, despite being an oval track just killed me. Can normally do it but not this time!

Finally I have been playing Dracula X: Rondo of Blood. As it stands I am upgrading the game from average to good. Seem to be getting on much better with it now. I always loved the levels and overall design of the game but the jumping remains crap.

Just back into Final Fantasy VI on SNES these past couple of days. Finally made the World of Ruin and things are moving along nicely. 19 hours play time and still no grinding needed.

Popped in Exhaust Heat 2 for a few more races. Currently on the F3000 series and in the process of upgrading the car to tackle the tracks. Lots of content in the game too. 32 tracks over the 3 car classes.

Today I was going through some more of the stuff from my garage, fired up a couple of Dreamcast games and then put in Crazy Taxi 2. That was it for an hour or more, no more sorting just Crazy Taxi on the DC, and once again blown away by how good the Dreamcast is.  :o

Shadowrunner

Played my Turbografx today with the Turbo Booster for the first time. What a difference it makes not using RF anymore! Picture is much better. Played Blazing Lazers, Cratermaze and Final Lap Twin.

The PAL TG puts out an amazing picture with RGB Scart so it's probably similar.

Yeah from what I've read Scart is better yet but I'm just happy to not have to use that crappy RF cable!

Rogue Trooper

Been playing (Jap) Contra Hard Corps on MD this afternoon, with cheats in use (Only did as i wanted to see full game).

Gob-smacked by this, the amount of graphical tom foolery being pulled off with 'gay abandon' (can i say that on here in this day and age? or is it 'borderline homo-phobic? :-) ), just really impressive game, no need for MCD, let alone SNES when the best MD teams could pull of stunts like this.
