NEC PC Engine Vs. Sega Mega Drive

New Zealand Story, the MD version was based on an updated 'remix' arcade version, but even so I prefer the PCE version even with its tinny sfx!

Super Volleyball, tough call on a shite game! The MD version just edges it on sfx and music, graphics are pretty much identical.

PCE 2 - 2 MD
Rastan 2 - PCE
Afterburner 2 - MD
New Zealand Story - PCE
Super Volleyball - MD

'Super Volley Ball'? BOTH versions look poor, players looking like they are in urgent need of a dump!.

MD version has the better sound, so guess it's the better version, but game looks horrendous as it is, so not sure if it's something to shout about.

I have it on the TurboGrafx and it's actually quite good, easily one of the best sports games I have played on the machine!

That said the MD version looks and sounds better so I am going with that, 3-1 now to the PCE.

I've always been a big Sega fan, but Devils Crash seems to sound better and look smoother and better on the PC Engine. It's very close really but the PC Engine gets my vote on this game.

Not much between them.MD version looks touch sharper, but i prefer the Eng's audio.

These two games are pretty close but I think I prefer how the game is displayed on the PC Engine over the MD.Â

There is not a lot in it but I have played both versions and I think both the graphics and sound are marginally better on the PC Engine. So 4-1 now to the PCE for me!

Really rough one again, I've owned both copies at one time, both excellent and well worth owning, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Megadrive for the win, even though some of the sfx sounds better on the PCE, the Megadrive version adds some bonus rounds and some new music tracks, whilst keeping the great gameplay the same...tough call, as I said both are amazing games though.
