I liked the Street Fighter movie. Yeah, I said it. Is it a great movie? ...Well, no, not at all. It's horrendously cheesy, sure, but Raul Julia's performance alone saves the whole thing for me. If we're talking about GOOD movies, though, I'd have to agree with everybody saying Mortal Kombat.
Pointless trivia for you: The MK team liked Kano's depiction in the movie so much they turned him from a Japanese-American to an Australian in the actual games.
Oh, yeah, I saw Max Payne once. That... that, uh, was a thing.

I actually watched that last night!!!!
It was a bit boring but gets extra points for having Mila Kunis in it
I watched the 'Max Payne' movie the other night. It took cues from the game(Mona Sax, the illegal drugs, the murdering of Max's family). It was okay. Oh - I noticed there was a little bit after the end credits - that was unusual.Â
I watched Resident Evil: Retribution a couple of night ago - it was pretty good. That series of films has managed to stay on track and having Mila Jovavich in it is a massive bonus for me!
they are definitely becoming more ridiculous as they go on for me but they are still very enjoyable imo, I thought the 3rd was probably the best.
Is anyone going to see Wreck It Ralph when it comes out? its a video game homage film with loads of real world video game characters like Sonic and Bowser etc

Wreck It Ralph came out a couple months ago. There's a thread about it around here somewhere. I haven't seen it yet but most people seem to really like it.
Its not out over here yet for some reason though

Oh, whoops sorry didn't realize that. That's odd, I know they don't release them at the same time all around the world but I thought it was close.
the majority of films now DO come out in most regions at the same time, sometimes there are BIG gaps and differences which I find odd. We had Solomon Kane Feb 2010 but the US general release (Which was limited) didn't happen until 2012 I don't think!
But yeah, looks pretty good.
I'm looking forward to the new Mortal Kombat... whenever that will be, and splinter cell, that should be awesome

And they wonder why people pirate movies! With such big gaps of course people are going to do it.
Bad ones first:
Resident Evil 1 was mediocre, after that the series became outright bad imo.
Thing is: I loved the games. At least up to part 4.
But the movies have very little in common with the old games. There is no hint of horror in them, it's just action, and a heroine fighting Matrix-style. The only stuff they took from the games they turned bad to fit with Milla's character.
Street Fighter the Movie: Bad but charming in a cheesy way. Jean-Claude claimed he had something going with Kylie on the shoot. Yeah, like hell.^^
Street Fighter Chun Li: Even worse, and not charming. They could have at least cast a woman that looks Chinese for the title role.
Tekken: Better than Chun Li, but not by much. Obviously the director never played any of the games; Characters are in, but portrayed wrong. Good guys are bad and vice versa. Niche characters get big roles, mainstays in the games do not appear at all. All set in a dystopian future city... Tekken City. Note: Shang Tsung from MK plays Heihachi.
Dead of Alive: Similar in quality. Don't put actors in costumes straight from such a colorful game, it looks silly. Not that better costumes could have saved this one.
Mario Bros: Worst of all. Worse than any Boll-movie.
Alone in the Dark: Pretty bad and boring. Christian Slater in the lead, instant fail. That said, I do prefer it from above movies; yes, including RE 2 - 5.
House of the Dead: This is where Uwe got fired up. Game footage in the movie. Wow, this is truly terrible..
Double Dragon: Stupid teeny action flick.
Now the good or acceptable ones:
Silent Hill: Really, I'm a fan of the games and they made this pretty damn good. As close as a mainstream movie could get; with more horror and blood it would not have been a cinema release, so they walked a fine line, but the result was satisfying.
Mortal Kombat 1: Silly action-flick with a track that was a hit that year. Nice one, though I dislike the games.
Final Fantasy: The Spirits within: A nice and at the time very impressive movie with a bit of a misplaced spiritual theme. Imagine Alien meets spirituality. Not great by any means, but acceptable to see one time.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children: Don't mind the story. Don't mind the gay costumes. If you like anime and frantic superhero battles, this is for you. It's sad for me as FF VII had such a rich story and this is such an empty shell, but at least the shell is shiny, so it's worth a look.
So that was my list. Never watched Doom. Never watched a Tomb Raider either because I disliked all the games AND Angelina Jolie.
I definitely want to watch King of Fighters, AitD, Yakuza and Silent Hill 2 eventually, eventhough I know that the first two are bad.
