Games That Should Be Films!

On the flip side of my films based on games topics I thought it would be interesting to see what games people think would make great films.

Here is a few I thought of:

Missile Command - I am actually very surprised this was never done in the 80s as the whole plot and idea of the game lends itself perfectly to a distaster movie, probably starring somebody like Bruce Willis!

Pitfall! - Ok it would probably be a bit like Indiana Jones but I am still quite surprised it was never done. Especially given the popularity of the games and its sequels, Pitfall Harry would make a perfect Hollywood character!

Myst - Given what a deep and interesting story this game has I think it would be perfect movie fodder. Full of intrigue and twists it would probably end up being a little like a cinematic version of the Lost TV series.

I think a movie based on the Fallout series could be pretty cool. Something along the lines of a Mad Max movie but with mutated creatures.

Manic Miner directed by Stanley Kubrick or George Romero.

Pyjamarama directed by the Coen brothers

A movie that takes it's inspiration from The Way of the Exploding Fist could be quite a blast.  Directed by Mel Brooks or Ridley Scott!

How bout some of the old FMV games, they were calling them interactive movies anyway. Night Trap comes to mind right away, it could easily be a B grade horror movie.

That's very true, most of those FMV games were terrible though so not sure I want to see them made into a proper movie!

Fallout was a superb suggestion, i'd add to that Twilight 2000 for those of us who remember it and Wasteland.

Going to add few suggestions of my own:

System Shock 1+2, Realms Of The Haunting, Clive Barker should turn Undying into a film, Battlefield:Bad Company (believe a TV series is being made), Xcom (going for mini-series here), Iron Solider andShinobi+ Revenge Of Shinobi -Made back to back, kinda Kill Bill-esq so Vol 1 and Vol 2.

Shinobi and Revenge Of Shinobi are a great shout!

Another one that just sprung to mind for me is Space Invaders - given the popularity of the game I am really surprised they never made a movie.

Fallout could make a great film IMO, the setting, storyline, characters and backdrop could easily be transfered over to the big screen. However due to the cult followings of the game i think we are more likely to see a Call Of Duty film.

I like the sound of these.  Space Invaders could be a lot of fun too.

They would work, I can see The Rock or Mark Wahlberg starring in them.

The Strike games would make good movies too I think.
