I'm a huge comic book fan and have been for years. I remember Todd McFarlane's Spider-Man run, even  :o

But I never knew there was a Spawn title for the Gamecube. I snapped it up last week and finally got round to playing it yesterday. A retrospective (no pun) search for reviews throws up a whole gamut of lacklustre/meh opinions, but my initial impression of this game is a positive one.

It's very responsive and looks and plays very similarly to Darksiders on the 360. I think it's going to be very linear, but for £7 including shipping, I think I got myself a wee bargain.

Do you have any thoughts on this title?

(Big Edit, as just realised it's the PS2/Xbox/GC game being talked about, which i'm sure i still own).

Will see IF i've still got it, will give it a whirl.

Know i'vegot the Dreamcast game (ever played?) but never tried the PSone game.

I liked Darksiders, upto 1st Boss, lol.Too fiddly for my liking.

Spent few hours playing it on Xbox (runs on 360 as well which is nice).Realised WHY i gave up on it before:

There's nothing wrong with the game as such, looks, sounds great, very responsive controls, but it just feels over-familar to myself. It's NAMCO doing it's own Onimusha/Devil May cry with bit of Predator:concrete Jungle thrown in and some Ninja Gaiden/Shinobi style wall jumping etc.

It's a collection of styles i've played in afore mentioned titles on PS2+Xbox.Orb collecting, areas sealed off until you kill required number of foes, basic puzzles etc ohh and Soul Reaver style floating across gaps but here it's his cape, not wings.

Think the lack of things to really call it's own might have meant reviewers were a little cold when approaching it.If your a Spawn fan?lots of cool stuff to find/unlock etc, but game just does'nt offer enough to call it's own to really stand out from the crowd.

Guess the G.C had less games of this style? where as PS2/Xbox owners had wider choice.

I have the Dreamcast game but never played Spawn:Armageddon. The Gamecube version is cheap in the US too so I'll probably buy it soon. I'm a fanboy for most superhero games and usually get obsessed with collecting all the hidden bits... alternate costumes, artwork, etc.

I still have an old Violator bendy figure. I used to keep it on my desk, but it really scared my kids when they were younger so I had to stash it away.
