According to a posting on Angel List, Ouya has recruited the talents of Yves Behar to build a $99 Android game console that you can connect to a TV, with a high-concept developer ecosystem that's as free as can be. Any developer will be able to publish games, claims the listing, and all games will be free to play. Even the underlying hardware is "built to be hacked" — every customer who buys a retail box will get a dev kit in the bargain, the site claims.
Pretty interesting idea, some big names onboard so this in certainly one to watch.
Now, that's interesting.Â
I personally think this is a seriously awesome idea, I am already tempted . . .
Now that's an interesting concept, a console that comes with it's own development kit. It looks like we may have a decent new generation of home developers if this works.
There's also the Pocket TV project http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/484889112/the-pocket-tv-makes-any-tv-a-smart-tv
This will allow for Android gaming on any TV with a very compact device. It will also make the TV a smart TV.Â
This is just what is needed to shake the console market up, no one wants to pay £300-£400 for a console and £40-£50 for a game nowadays.
I thought I'd share an update about this console. There is now a Kickstarter page for this system, should anyone be interested.

I am sure it will get plenty of backing!
It already has $850,000 for the $950,00 that they need to make the project a reality! In less than 24 hours!
Wow.
Wow is right...now at $864,000 and rising...

No kidding! I was expecting it to get backing but not to this level and not this fast!
this unit has great potential with the amount of free android software and not's let forget the great open source emulators out there like UAE4droid running natively inside this machine. ...magic would be simply stick a usb stick with your games and play on your 50" LCD...EPIC!!!Â
I can't see this using a form of anti-piracy or stopping users from running what they want here.
