The Commodore 64 has a new nightmare to explore with Necrosis, a dark platform adventure that puts the player in the middle of a very bad night at St. Jude’s Infirmary.
The story begins with the player waking alone on a gurney while the hospital has fallen into chaos. Three survivors are still somewhere in the darkness: a nurse, a priest who has ventured into the catacombs and a nun whose chapel bell can be heard from Blackmoor Cemetery.
It is exactly the kind of atmospheric setup that suits the C64’s distinctive sound and graphics, and another reminder that original games are still finding new ways to use classic hardware.
RVG Take: A creepy original adventure is a welcome addition to the C64 homebrew scene, particularly when developers are willing to push the machine beyond simple nostalgia.
