Got into this game hardcore after 20 years. Been playing night and day lately & while this one wasn't made by Id, it appears to have a cult following and is critical to the series by diehard fans.
I had this originally on my N64 but can't find it or the console amongst all my gaming crap... er, stuff so I'm using Project 64 which I successfully setup a few days ago here.
Below is my progress thus far with many edits to follow, as well as many spoilers so turn away now if you don't wanna know :)

What a game! Definitely at the top of the old-school series. Can't believe the difficulty of some of those battles/puzzles. Mind you, I was playing this the easiest setting. I watched videos of people smashing their way through levels and the skill they have is incredible. Take on a Baron of Hell in a hallway and survive. It's remarkable to be able to do that. Maybe one day I'll get good enough to do a speed run lol. (not hardly :p )

All I can say is WOW.
Did some digging and found DOOM 64 EX for the PC. Looks like this guy did wonders with the menus, etc. to make it work flawlessly on a computer.
Appears to work under Wine in Linux, too. Great stuff 8)

Very nice.  You are absolutely Doomed!  ;)

YEAH! The addiction is overwhelming. Now that I can play without the motion sickness, I'm seeing what so many others have about why this series is so much fun. Granted, a little after the fact, but that won't damper the fun. Still plenty of life in all the games and I'm surprised at how big the following is. Great stuff 8)

I wrote a Doom 64 review for RVG a little while back. I gave it a pretty good score, if I remember correctly, and I think the game's strengths do outweigh its weaknesses. I've never played through the game start-to-finish in one sitting like that, though, so I'm impressed! I have seen some speed runs of the game on Twitch and AGDQ and it's always very entertaining to watch. It'd probably be a lot of fun to learn if you're interested in taking your games to that level.

My man, you never cease to amaze 👍🏻😎
For the record, Alien verses Predator on the Atari Jaguar holds a Guinness World Record!

To remove any awkwardness, I have mesothelioma. I don’t seek sympathy, just acceptance. Thanks

Saturn

Thanks gents, I want badly to start making levels for it but am currently enthralled in making/converting maps for the Jaguar version. Should have a nice 9 level expansion pack rom coming out soon. The first of many, I hope. Loving some Doom in any format these days! This is the most epic franchise I've ever played 8) 8) 8)

ArcadeAction

Hope to try this sometime. I used to make a fair bit of levels back in the day. Setting up triggers and open and close doors is a lot of fun.

I just got into it about a month ago and having a blast. Getting creative with traps is fun to figure out. 8)
