Twenty two years ago Tecmo set the standard for American Football games on the 8-bit home consoles. The game was huge in America and was seen as a key reason behind the NES' success there. The game is still played by a group of die hard fans who have decided to update it with modern NFL rosters. This is the latest yearly update from tecmobowl.org and features a whole new look from previous efforts.

This is the same game that grid iron fans know and love just brought right up to date for the modern age. A ROM file of the game can be downloaded from the website where there are also full instructions of how to play the game and a list of features. You can also check out this video of the game below:

I have seen a group of fans on television, they get together every year and hold championships. Amazing this game has such a following.

I may have to blow the dust off the Ouya and fire up the NES emulator and try this.
Very cool they're still doing this so many years later!
