Quote from: "barneygumble"Just got my testorder from Retrogamelab :
Im pretty disappointed with the quality, I ordered from different repromakers in the past years,  but those are
on the cheapest quality level I got so far.

SNES Box :  by far to thin to be called box, Inkjet print laminated paper I would say, also  the text and the art on the box is unclear "bleeding" from inkjet print. The art looks pretty low dpi, like downloaded somewhere.

DreamCast Repro : Box/Case/Manual : Same poor quality as above SNES Box. Disc is simple CDR with Inkjet printed on the disc front.
Manual : 3 pages + Contents page  & cover. Pretty much the laziest Manual I saw, the manual looks like cut by hand none of them has a clear straight cut.

For this quality this is robbery.
Any chance of some images?

RetroFox

The Minimal your getting is a refund AFTER RETURN OF MY PRODUCTS ... in the same condition they left me!
Minus the shipping cost. Time waster.

RetroFox

Here are some recent examples of my work to prove his claims are all in aim of getting free products.
He ddnt even contact me at any point, just did the classic moves of a paypal scam and backed it up with flame war, at no point did he message me to try resolve anything.

This one proves I use a paper cutter.

This proves my boxes are good quality

With angle shots to show nice smooth edges and cuts

My older design of discs (more pal based)

My roll laminator for professional finnish

Readable small print on uncut gameboy sticker (with 10 pence to prove size)

Edges of manual compared with edges of disc case

More manuals inside

More readable small print (dont blame your eyes on my printer lol)

Embossed edges - Only happens with a laser printer.

Website states printed discs, You get everything Made-To-Order ... you have to be the only person on the planet that expects pressed discs lol. They are even the best quality discs on the market! Your complaints make no sense or are just strait up lies.

"Manual : 3 pages + Contents page  & cover. Pretty much the laziest Manual I saw, the manual looks like cut by hand none of them has a clear straight cut. "

This is the following manuals he got in detail

Quake = 8 page manual made using the PC manual. Contains Background/Prelude to destruction/fire power/power ups/environmental hazards and effects/controls/game credits
The original quake manual was a bare face white page, I added graphics and artwork to spice it up a bit.

Metal Slug 1 -  4 page manual Intro/Controls/Characters... This manual was worked from nothing and contains all the info you need to know whats going on and how to control it and made pretty with artwork (with some background story on characters for extra info - TrekMD had no complaints on this package)  Check the original manual for the arcade, its a sheet of paper! lol

Metal Slug 2 - Much of the same as metal slug 1

Propeller Arena - 8 page manual with  Intro-plot/Controls/Gameplay/Modes/Training Arena/Items/Tricks - All the info you need to play.

Doom DC - Another 4 page manual that contains a ton of back story and the control.

The manuals do what they are meant to do and are made with the info that is available, I cant just make stuff up now can I ?
These Dreamcast games never had manuals, I had to create them all.

The way you describe the edges is complete nonsense and you know it, You dont get anywhere with anyone by lying.

And sending emails like this to your customers :
"

HOW FUCKING DARE YOU SCAM ME! YOU LOW LIFE PIECE OF SHIT!
You dont want to scam me....it will end very baddly for you as i am an incredibly vengefull person.
"

A email like that to a buyer ... For a simple  inquiring via paypal is just low.

YOU as the seller filed / escalated the claim to paypal
I might add.

RetroFox

Chatting more rubbish I see.

You set strait for refund without return, No prior contact , no attempt what so ever to contact me.
Your claims are complete lies and I have just proved it with a huge rack of pictures

You have just claimed loads of rubbish you cant even back up.
So obviously I escalated the claim further, because you have just been a complete fool who im still 100% sure is trying to scam me for free products.

NOTE TO WATCHERS WITH POPCORN: This guy completely ignored the fact I said about returning items... its because he want the money and the items. Scammer style.

RetroFox

and its just silly that hes complaining about printed discs when they are listed as printed discs. You clearly know how to read English no problem.. so why have you ignored all the descriptions? Your trying to gain a refund for what was in the dang description!
Your going to flame me and try destroy my business/paypal because you failed to read the description and look at the pictures? No dice mate.

My chosen CD-R are the BEST on the market, Full glossy surface with water proof technology to boot! The half life disc I posted has been sitting on my windowsill for almost 6 months and looks no different then when it come out the publisher..... and that ontop, its not just a printer, its a disc publishing machine with special dye inks. The only thing it does is discs! lol

What I see going on is the guy has backed out of his purchase and instead of coming clean is lying to try pressure me into agreement.

In paypal he has posted "Internally Damaged
Substitute" ..... so they are now damaged as well? Funny how you havent used that part of the story here n'all?
So are they mis-described or are they damaged? lol So much contradiction and mixed stories.

Also he lives in Japan but has a German/Europe website that sells every type of game you can think of and claims stuff like 3 days delivery and fails to mention he lives in Japan on any part of the site and just implies hes local. Now that  sounds like a scam 2 me! lol

AND STILL NO PROOF (~Because he has none)

RetroFox

This is a sad announcement but because of this ... Im going to have to deny service to Japan (along with a few others that have bad paypal history) I seem to be getting targeted nopw and then, or just bad luck? I have won each time its been a scammer but I cant deal with the headache of disputing with them, trying to pressure me into refund over my paypal or reputation. (Somthing I will never back down 2!)

I will make a list of what countries I will block.
I will be limiting to mostly Europe Canada and US sales only.
(I really hate to do this, so many people are going to miss out because of the few scammers)

and note, genuine problems I will deal with like gentleman, like recently I mistakenly sent the wrong region to a customer in the US, he was pretty unhappy but emailed me first. I offered instant replacement no fuss no problem and apologized for the mistake. I also act the same for any damages, email a pic and you get a instant resend =)

Shadowrunner

Okay guys!

RetroFox, I understand you're upset but please try to stay calm. Yelling, swearing, and calling him names is not helping the situation.

barneygumble, if you had a problem with your order you should have contacted him through his website. Signing up for an account here just to call him out and bring it into the public is not the way to handle it!

I will let @TrekMD decide what to do here as he has ordered these repros himself and he can talk about the quality of the work.

Until then, please no more posts from either of you on the subject.

Thanks for understanding my reaction. Leave it to paypal to decide its fate now =).

Update: I have updated the "About us" page and the "Terms & Conditions" to make sure im as clear as can be.
The about us page describes the process of all items on the site. A Disclaimer has been updated and added to each page. It mostly describes the production process and rules of purchase. (and my right to refuse service ect)
Along with how lost/damaged items are handled. Region blocking will still in effect shortly... it shoul'nt effect many people on here though. (if anyone spots a spelling mistake let me know lol)

Sorry I had not posted here before.  I was surprised with the messages coming into my inbox but I've been busy at work.  Here is my take:

1.  barneygumble, it is poor taste to join a forum to start badmouthing someone.  This sort of poor netiquette will get you banned from forums.  If you have issues with a seller, you need to contact them directly and sort things out, not go into a forum and start openly posting.

2.  I have purchased Dreamcast repros from RetroFox and I'm quite happy with them.  Yes, the discs are CD-R's and that is nothing unexpected.  These are reproductions and many of these are not even officially released titles.  To expect to see these discs released as pressed CD's is not realistic.  I have no complaints about the quality of the ink on the discs either.  In fact, I welcome the fact that they are made as they are made.  This makes it clear that they are repros and no one can be ripped off by anyone selling these are original CD's (something that is known to happen on Ebay).

3.  I cannot make any comments regarding the boxes as I've not purchased any reproduction boxes from RetroFox.

4.  Manuals on the DC repros I have came printed on glossy paper and there is no "bleed" that I can see.  Yes, some of these manuals are brief but one does have to keep in mind that there are no manuals for games that were not officially released.

5.  RetroFox, I realize you are quite upset by this situation but, as Shadowrunner said, yelling, swearing, and calling names does not help solve the situation.  I know it can be difficult, but it is important to try to keep a cool head, particularly when you're posting in a public forum.  It is unfortunate you have to region block moving forward also.

I don't want to see any more posts about this situation in this thread.  This needs to be resolved through proper channels.

Going to the final frontier, gaming...

Well said on all points, thanks for your input. =)

A 1/2 update. I will be starting a line of T-shirts soon. All the retro themed gear will be added to RetroGameLab when up and running =)

Product update:

I have just ordered a huge bunch of PS2 Modchips, They will be getting listed on my coming Etsy Shop as paypal does not like these kinds of devices (No matter how old), so its not worth the risk =)

I will also soon be getting mod chips for Gamecube & PS1.
If there are any thing else I should get mods for let me know =)

WiggyDiggyPoo

What does having a modchip do aside from playing copies - which I've no interest in - guessing it removes region lock for Japanese games and such?

I have a PS2 with a mod chip that allows me to play any region PS1 or 2 game. I think I could play copies with it too, but like you I have no interest in that. Pretty handy to have though, tons of great Japanese games that never made it west.
