I have to admit that I'm quite curious about this system and I'm tempted to get it.  It's a nice way to play various systems without having to switch consoles or wiring.

Plus it outputs it all in HDMI.

Yes, which is also excellent as it upcodes the signals.

First impressions.... it's ace!  The slots on mine feel spot on, doesn't take any extra effort to get them out like some complain but that might be down to early models. Only played a few games but was chuffed to discover it will play Japanese MD games, I thought with their weird cart shapes they'd be out but fit perfectly.

The pad is utter arse, it's clicky, cheap and plastic. Will be using a SNES pad for all my games on it but very disappointed with the pad, the stick just doesn't control the games well at all and the lack of a D Pad is a big mistake. Thankfully it's riddled with controller slots down the side for all the systems so no big loss.

I've heard a few complaints about sound as well but I just boosted Treble and Bass settings within the console menu and seemed to do the trick for me. Castle of Illusion still sounds as magical as ever plus it looks glorious in upscaled HDMI on a 40" TV!

I see these selling on Amazon for $140 right now.  I guess the price went up.

I've had mine for a while now. Love it!

In addition to the original controllers you can mix and match controllers. For instance I use a NES controller for SMS games - so much better. Oh yeah - that's right you can play Master System games with the Power Base Converter.

No need to worry about dead save batteries or even save points if you're the save-stating type. But the ability to patch is the best thing of all.

Still very much want one. My missus no regrets showing me one of those Facebook groups that deal with retro items in the Scotland area. Some lass is selling a RetroN5 for £85 which I think is a steal, only been used a few times seemly. Problem is the distance and she isn't willing to post. It's about over and hour drive.

I've been debating it in my head. Is it worth the travel for the price and hopefully it still be unsold when I get paid next week.

I would say it's worth the drive mate. £130 on Funstock are they not.

lol they are but I'm a man with so many hobbies and so little disposable income. I mean I would happily get a new one but it would mean spending a wee bit less somewhere and not getting a day trip out lol and when you work from home and spend 6 of 7 days in the house all day, you crave those days of freedom.

I wouldn't mind a retron 5, as its an all in one, but I don't want to spend so much on a system, I struggled paying near the retron 5's price for my pc engine and a bunch of games.

Though if they released this one that can play all these games plus the nec stuff, itd be awesome, but that's a few years off apparently :(
Currently collecting:- PC Engine, mastersystem, mega drive and CDi.

The other way to look at it is you can sell your original consoles.

EchoPark

But old consoles just look so nice  :21:

I'm gonna be selling most of my spares and a few that I just won't use. Be a sad day when my Sega Multi Mega goes.
