This was recently suggested by TrekMD.  I'd like to take people build-by-build through the happenings involved in making a homebrew.  Note that this is a unique situation and not entirely typical.  I wouldn't suggest entering into a game programming contract with this as a template.  Rather, it's just my experience creating this game.  I intend to post this in bite-sized morsels using each delivered binary as a reference point.

The first thing I "delivered" to Joe was a title screen for the game.  After E.T. things like title screens became a must.

We had just mulled over our game style options and decided on an Adventure-esque theme over maze, platformer or shooter.  Here is what I proposed on that front:
QuoteAdventure-esque
The Dead Knight is pulled back to earth and must obtain the icons of his chivalry to ascend! He must find 5 gates and sojourn upwards towards the boss guarding his icons. The boss monsters are demons disguised as innocents (Marlas Friends). Randomized dungeons can be spelunked for shield and weapon upgrades.

The title screen was made from reference material culled from a little Internet stalking on my part.  I found the Dead of Knight movie web page and a few sites that had Joes arcade cabinet collection in it.   Finding what games he collected greatly assisted me in coming up with suggestions for the game.

This is a great idea. I'm looking forward to more!
I'm not too familiar with the 2600 or any of its software so it will be an insight for me.

Quote from: "TrekMD"Really cool, loon.  Thanks for starting this.

Not a problem!  I don't doubt there's merit in being retrospective about past projects.  Joe Grisaffi may be signing up too.  He literally does everything all the time, though.  Not only does he write, direct and act but has several other jobs to fund his projects (as well as eat!)
