I knew about this a while ago but completely forgot to post about it.

I am not particularly excited about this one. US Gold mostly just published other peoples stuff, they put out very few original titles and a large majority of their stuff was also pretty crap.

Crap???? Surely as a Publisher that were involved in lots of classic game releases deserves this recognition?

They were not involved though, as I said most of what US Gold published was other peoples games. They had no input in their creation, development or programming. They simply distributed them on behalf of another company, US Gold were actually set up just to distribute games from the US that hadn't been released here. They can't really take the credit for other peoples work.

The games they did create themselves (which came a bit later) like HKM, Strider II, Italia '90, Moonwalker and Fever Pitch were crap.

In fact they were also responsible for the horror that is the release of World Cup Carnival, regarded by many as the worst game ever made.

Agreed but they must have some stories to be told?? Maybe Chris will pop on and verify this will be worth reading???

They probably do have plenty of stories but just not ones I would be that interested in as I have no emotional involvement in any of the games they made. I am sure the book will be fine, but the subject matter is not something I am at all excited about (unlike the Ocean book) so I have no interest in backing it.

The only thing I would be interested in finding out is what happened to their 5 Atari Lynx games that were announced but never released, but I don't hold out much hope of that.

Lets hope that someone they get in contact with can share some light on that amongst other things.

Problem is that almost nothing was done in house, US Gold pretty much just published stuff so getting hold of all the 3rd parties involved in their games will be a nightmare.

Greyfox

I'm sure there will be allot more that just 3rd party involvement, but I also like the inside story regarding these companies if cover in-dept..they had Probe doing stuff for them and I'm very interested in that. I like Probe's stuff. Salomon's Key and MetroCross..

Now a book on Probe I would be interested in . . . .
