Here's an Intellivision game that includes a feature where the player can make their own tracks to race on:  Motocross!

I also remember that the home computer versions of Marble Madness came with a construction kit to make your own levels:

That's a cool game to have a construction set for!

Can't believe I haven't mentioned this actually:

Boulderdash IV on the 8-bit computers was bloody excellent and the construction kit element was incredibly good fun to play around with. Many hours wasted on the Speccy version in my youth.  :16:

Noone has mentioned Lode Runner yet?

Lode Runner Legend returns on Saturn is a nice version, if a bit workmanlike

Both Lode Runner and Boulder Dash are classic titles.  I was not aware of the fact there were versions of these games that included level editors.  Cool.

While looking up info for another thread, I discovered that Combat 2 for the Atari 2600 (which was never officially released) would have offered a level designer.  That would have been a cool thing to have on a 2600 game!  You can read about it here:  Atari 2600 Combat 2.

Destruction Derby or Demolition Derby?  Are you referring to a 2600 title?

I checked in Wikipedia and it does not appear that the game had a level editor.  It also came for PC, N64, and Sega Saturn:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destruction_Derby

There was a level editor released for the PC version of Z. (Not quite as old as the likes of the Racing Destruction set but still)

Here is an amazingly cool one that I just discovered:
