I haven't seen a thread on this yet so I thought I would create one. Personally speaking I think Segas machine is a hands down superior console so ill try my best not to be too biased lol.

Ok, first up its double dragon.

SMS Longplay

Master System Longplay [030] Double Dragon

Ok, first of all, I think they are both chronic conversions and are an insult to the original. With that said I believe the Sega version is a slightly more polished turd with brighter visuals, and it seems to play more smoothly. The NES version has slightly better sound but that's about it for me.

Yep, SMS for me.

I have been planning to do this for a while actually but was leaving it until a few of the other versus threads died out. Now is as good a time as any though for it.

I also happen to think both versions are atrocious, I actually reviewed the SMS version on here the other day (joining the NES review that I did) and it's pretty much as you say. SMS version follows the arcade game and looks far better. The shitty NES version however is only one player, nothing like the arcade game and has a stupid earn moves system but it does have the better sound. Both versions suffer from ridiculously bad sprite flicker.

SMS wins but only by being the slightly less shitty one of the two.

I fixed the video links for you too :3:

In general SMS games are better than NES ones IMO, it's a better machine.

As both of you said Double Dragon is better on the SMS albeit neither of them are good ports.
Don't be surprised, my broken English is legendary!

What do I wrong mate, I'm curious. I post via my iPad the vast majority of the time. So I don't get the privilege of seeing it 'properly'.

Click modify on your own post and you will see - you need to post the full URL for the video. Mobile links don't work.

SMS has always beaten the NES for me

Another example Ghostbusters

SMS

Ghost Busters - Sega Master System Full Game 1 of 2

The SMS has better music, much better graphics and a more complex gameplay. The NES is just grey

Alberto 2K

Damn, sound is awful in both games!! :107:

Graphically is much better on the SMS tough so that version gets my vote.

I reviewed the SMS version of that the other day too, wins by a mile.

2-0 to the Sega

I will take doses of Double Dragon and Ghostbusters in SMS format, please.  Thank you!  ;)

Never played either version. Sega Master looks better. Go Sega!

TL

Never played the NES version but I have heard that it's terrible.

The SMS version however is rather good in my opinion and is far better graphically too, so another easy win for the Sega machine.

I make that 3-0 to the Master System.

TrekMD

I'm not impressed by either game but the SMS definitely looks better.
