Just saw this article on Ars Technica and thought I'd share it.  Looks like the good 'ol Famicom has turned 30 today.  Here is a link to the article:  The NES turns 30: How it began, worked, and saved an industry.  I know the "saved an industry" part doesn't apply in the European market but, regardless, Nintendo did make an impact with their system.

I'm mildly amused to see certain websites and print publications are running articles with headlines such as 'The NES turns 30' and '30 years of NES' when the NES was launched in February 1986 (following a limited test market launch in NYC in late '85). :24:

Details, details Mr. DCRip.   ;)  And of course it is the Famicom who is turning 30, not the NES today.  :10:

By the way, expect to see more of these in 2016 when the actual NES has it's 30th birthday (unless they start popping up in 2015!).

Indeed. Hence why I was careful not to intimate that you were guilty of the same faux pas!

Thank you.  ;)  Well, in the last 24 hours I've had a few laughs because of the "savior of video games!"

It's the timeline being changed mate.Bound to happen soon as Gamestm, EDGE, RG etc etc started to re-write the history of the NES in the UK, like throwing a pebble into a pond, ripples spread out and we are just seeing the start of it.

The NES:It cannot be bargined with, it cannot be reasoned with, it feels no pain, no remorse, no pity and it absolutely will not stop.....being given bloody coverage or so it seems.

Thought I'd just add the part highlighted in red to flesh out your The Terminator reference there, RT!  :21:

I like these compilation videos showing all sorts of games!  This is definitely a cool one for the NES.
