The Falcon had a number of prototypes designed with a '040 processor and in a microbox case.  The microbox case could be  used either horizontally or vertically.  Much like the Sony PS2's case.

You are so close I will give you that, the Sony PS2 patent actually refers to the Atari Falcon for its case design which they purchased from Atari.

Now somebody try answering all 5 in one post!!!!

I am going to try again:

The Muncher & Zool 2 - Both published by Gremlin Graphics (according to Wikipedia).

Night Driver & Night Trap - Rob Funlop worked on both games.

KC Munchkin & Giana Sisters - Lawsuits by Atari and Nintendo, respectively, got the games pulled from the market.

Gridrunner & Tempest 3000 - Both games were made by Jeff Minter.

Atari Falcon & Sony PS2 -  Sony PS2 patent refers to the Atari Falcon for its case design was purchased from Atari.

4/5 right so I will give you the win!

The answer to the first question is actually that both game were promoted by childrens sweets - Zool 2 by Chupa Chups and The Muncher by Chewits. Although they were both published by Gremlin it wasn't the answer I was looking for!

I figured it wasn't the answer you were looking for but you asked for what is common between them and they do have that in common.  :)

The only one I know is the last set. Soul Star and Ninja Gaiden both ended up not being released. As for the rest I don't have a clue but maybe I'll try looking them up a bit later.  :)

Ok I got another one. Checkered Flag and Rogue Trooper were both made by Rebellion. I honestly had no idea they made Checkered Flag, thought they only made good Jag games!
