Ralph Baer is often called the father of video games. His invention, the Magnavox Odyssey, was the first home console system. Last year he celebrated his 90th birthday the same year the Odyssey turned 40. Here he talks about those early days of video game history and why now, at 90 years old, he's still inventing.

You can see the original patent for the Magnavox Odyssey at http://www.google.com/patents/US3728480

'Inventors' is a series of portrait videos by filmmaker and photographer David Friedman, chronicling the work of contemporary inventors from all walks of life. It offers rare glimpses into the inspiration for their creations, which range from the first digital camera and first video game console to a drive-able amphibious ice-fishing vehicle.

You know, it is sad to hear him say that all his friends have died but, at the same time, it is inspiring to see him continuing to push forward and keeping busy with what he loves doing.  I hope I can be like him if I make it to 90!

I understand what your saying TrekMD.

I think it was awful that it took so long for him to be appreciated for contributions he has made to gaming.

I remember the G4 tv show icons. They did a special all about Ralph Baer. If you like Atari, be advised to not watch.
