Pitfall 2:the lost caverns was my favorite, It gave you so much more than Pitfall. I was just blown away by it. Took me weeks to properly map the caverns and find all the treasures and the quickclaw the cat too.

I went for the second one too, it was a really incredible achivement at the time and the only commercial 2600 game to use a chip in the cart to improve the graphics and sound.

I played the alternative Pitfall II over the weekend that was released for the Sega SG-1000. It's like the real Pitfall II crossed with Wonderboy, very cute and not very good.

And now we have both the new Pitfall game that has just come out and Pitfall creator David Crane's upcoming Jungle Adventure to consider!

I wish David Crane had some sort of mock up to show, even it was early work.  It'd be nice to have a sense of what he has in mind.  :)

The original Pitfall was hugely impressive on the 2600.  Pitfall 2 even more so.  I haven't played any of the others.  I'd quite like to get the GBA and GC games and try those for myself.

So, with nostalgia guiding my mouse hand, I've voted for Pitfall!

I'm reviving this old thread.  I was not aware that there is an arcade version of Pitfall II.  I found this video of it:

Did anyone play this in an arcade?

I believe it's pretty much the same as the Sega SG-1000 version, both by Sega.

I have heard it's not very good but I havn't played it.

Sega made both versions, so it is possible.

I went with Pitfall II. I have only played it on Mame. Never saw one up close and personal. It's okay.
