The chances of that happening are extremely slim, I think rather than annoy ourselves in the hope the Atari Brand will ever return to its forms glory, it's best to remember what they once where, the same thing applies to Commodore as well, they where great and ill always remember hem that way, but not in this day or age  🙂

The thing is I really don't think you can compare the two, no offence but Commodore were never as huge as Atari were and their impact on the industry pales in comparison. Atari pretty much started the whole video game industry and have created some of the most iconic games ever made. It would be a great shame to see the name die.

It's either going to go one of two routes.

1) The person Curt and I hope gets it will get the brand, and some great rebuilding strategies planned out will be put into place.

2) One of the other companies who are just interested in it for old rom re-releases and branding will get it, and the brand will slip further down from crappy new titles and re-releases to just old rom rehashes.

I pray for option 1!!!!  :63:

Option 1 would be best.

I don't and can't flame Atari in any way, because they where and still are so Epic to me, I'm only pointing out that from 16 years experience with the Commodore and Atari Brands back in the day, they both today are nothin they once where and my point was..to purely remember hem both in that light, a rebranding to me is not what I would compare to what they once where... :36:

I agree wholeheartedly. Anybody that wants to seriously do justice to the brand is going to have to rebuild it. Not try and just tie it in to past time periods that really mean nothing to the modern gaming audience. They have to go back and do it in a startup mode, like it's the early 70s again.
