After the other prototypes are nearly complete one of the next consoles in the protoseries will be the "VAL" or Atari 2000 system.

"Val" was the first attempt creating a low-cost console on 2600 base. It houses all components including joystick. Cartridge slot is on the back in 45 turn. Funktion keys are located identical to the 2600 Woodgrain models but are moved from left to right instead of top/bottom. Two joystick ports are on the back and can be used in parallel with built in ones.

Two versions were produced: one in dark brown, the other in blue. Both were rejected for production.
I will rebuild one in Anthrazit as this looks much nicer similar to the one on the picture.

Chassis will be rebuild in plastic. I already bought the right function keys and caps from a local dealer. I will install two broken CX40 knobs downsized in height with already existing sticks. An Atari 2600 Junior mainboard will be used from technical point of view. The AV+ and Simple Stereo mod installed.
