Since Laird is going on an advert bashing vendetta, thought I'd share some Super Nes love, theses Mega Drive fanboys refuse to acknowledge and rather than taking the Mick out of Nintendo as a whole, which I'm not a fan of either, Super Nintendo advertisements at the time seemed to be more like letting actions speak louder that words, rather than insulting a rival console maker 8)

I have to say this last advert has a point here...
Thanks for sharing those ads Greyfox, particularly liked the 3rd one down. Great finds, keep em coming.
And Nintendo fights back. They really pushed each other back then and some great games came out of the rivalry. Love the videos.
God those adverts are awful, no wonder the Mega Drive won.

LOL I'm a Sega fan but what exactly did they win?
The 16-bit war. The Mega Drive outsold the SNES worldwide, although not by a massive amount according to Wikipedia but there are no official figures for the Mega Drive in some regions and Nintendo are well known for grossly exagerating their sales figures as reported by many of their ex-employees. In the UK & Europe the MD outsold the SNES by 2:1.
Reading into this further it seems there are no official sales figures for Tectoy, Blaze or the company that sold the Mega Drive in Asian markets like Korea (I think it was somebody like Hyundai) so the figures are even more skewed. Tec Toy still sell the Mega Drive in South America and were still making new games for it too until fairly recently
Really? Every figure I've ever seen shows the SNES selling more. But I guess if they lied about sales figures that would change the picture.
Thanks Greyfox! I am also more a Sega fan in the 16-bit era but I can't deny Super Nintendo had some really great games. The three Donkey Kong Country and three Star Wars games come to mind. I still have Mario RPG on my must find time to play it list.
Cheers fella.. very amusing stuff..
