Tecmo Koei has released a new trailer for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, a spin-off designed by Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune.

The trailer shows a game mode that offers a classic side-scrolling Ninja Gaiden gameplay experience. The mode is very much designed to be a throwback to NES era Ninja Gaiden, and even uses the single-frame-with-text cutscene style from the originals.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z stars resurrected evil ninja Yaiba Kamikaze, who seeks revenge against Ninja Gaiden's leading man Ryu Hayabusa, who was responsible for killing Kamikaze in the first place.

Powered by Unreal Engine 3, Yaiba is a collaboration between Team Ninja and Spark Unlimited, developer of recently released Capcom title Lost Planet 3.
