The fourth-generation product contains features such as Samsung Smart Pause - allowing users to control the screen using their eyes - and Dual Camera mode - enabling them to take simultaneous photos and videos with both the rear and front cameras, and then blend the pictures together.
Air View detects when a user's finger is hovering over the screen in order to display additional preview information, while Air Gesture means you can scroll web pages, accept calls and change a music track with a wave of the hand.
The Galaxy S4 - announced on Thursday in New York's Times Square - can also create personalised Story Albums of special life moments through photos and videos, as well as content like SNS posts, memos and weather information.
The smartphone can even monitor a user's well-being through its S-Health software, with accessories such as heart-rate monitors and weighing scales from Samsung, as well as blood pressure and blood sugar monitors from other companies

Samsung said that the Galaxy S4 will sport a bigger 5-inch display than the S3's 4.8 inches, although the new display will cover more of the phone's surface area, meaning the device itself is the same length and slightly narrower, thinner and lighter than the previous generation.
"With the Galaxy S4, Samsung is again going to enhance the way we live," said JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung.
"All the innovative features of Galaxy S4 were developed based on the insights and needs we found from our consumers all around the world.
"Following the successful Galaxy S series, this phone is yet another great proof point of people-inspired innovation. At Samsung we'll never stop pursuing innovation conceived by people, so we can inspire them in return."
The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available from April 26 in the UK from the Samsung Experience Store at Westfield Stratford City and all other major operators.
Phones 4U has announced that it will be stocking the device at launch, while Carphone Warehouse will offer it on all major networks from April 25.

Sounds like it has a lot of features that are totally unnecessary
I know now what I'm getting this summer ...a real shame it lacks the wireless charging the Nokia Lumia high ends have, but 8-cores, that's is crazy for a phone..that also failed to mention what GPU is in this phone?..lovely piece of kit though, kick Apple's shite right out of the ball park this one.
From a mobile gaming point of view the introduction of the Samsung gamepad attachment will be massive as i expect it to be compatible with the majority of future releases:

Expected to launch this summer, the Samsung-made accessory is a Bluetooth controller featuring all the usual gamepad controls, including face buttons, dual analog sticks, a D-pad and shoulder buttons.
Engadget says that the controller connects to the smartphone via a clamp at the top and then links up wirelessly. It is powered by dual AAA batteries.
The gadget would allow users to more comfortably play mobile games on their device. Alongside the Galaxy S4, the controller is also said to work with the Galaxy Note 2 smartphone/tablet hybrid device.

Samsung has created a phone with great specs and with gimmicks that will attract the attention of many people. I am certain it will sell millions of units as it will appeal to the "average" user out there.Â
I am not particularly interested in this phone, though. I now have a Nexus 4 and, after using vanilla Android, I am not going to ever use another "skinned" Android phone.Â
