Guess I don't have to worry about finding a spot in my entertainment center for it. It'll fit anywhere!

The size also makes it quite portable.  :)

I must admit I was rather sceptical to say the least when I first saw this and the price, but with every new update and more backing I'm starting to believe they can pull this off, of course getting prototypes out is very different to 10k+ retail units so will watch to see if they get those done by April, but a quad core 1.6ghz CPU is VERY interesting for emulation for me, esp as Dreamcast emulators are starting to appear and my Xperia Play will struggle with that! $149 with extracontroller and shipping to the UK works out at £93....very tempting...might just preorder after Xmas!

Hey guys, just wanted to say that WaterMelon has now reached the 4th stretchgoal in the Pier Solar HD kickstarter, which means the game is coming to Android devices and of course the Ouya. So there's at least one very classic JRPG on the way.

Mega Drive, Dreamcast, Xbox 360, Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android and Ouya... I think we have reached quite a good selection of platforms for a game that started as a homebrew. 🙂

Systems owned: Atari 2600, Lynx, Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameBoy, Master System, Mega Drive, Dreamcast, Game Gear, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox, Wonderswan

Another Android device that I'll be laying my hands on for sure. Ouya specific versions of games, designed to run on the big screen, should be pretty good. Obviously it won't produce games of the graphical quality of the PS360, but really I think what I'm looking for is really good 2D stuff - Rayman Jungle Run looks amazing on my Nexus 7 - the Ouya could most likely cope with a full-blown conversion of Rayman Origins. Other neat modern platformers like Bloodrayne: Betrayal and Mark of the Ninja could be an excellent fit for the system. Plus all these shooters on Play Store like Espgaluda 2, Dodonpachi Resurrection and Raiden Legacy - these'd work a treat on Ouya and if they're at Google Play-esque prices, I'll be buying them again just for the convenience of having big screen versions.

Time will tell.  Besides, adding Google Play to this will be quite easy since it is intended to be hacked.

I have had a moment of realisation today. This device packs 8Gb storage and doesn't have an SD card slot. After system software, I expect there will only be 5-6Gb of storage. Bard's Tale and Jet Set Radio alone will see to that.

I am wondering how I could have missed something so fundamental about this console. There is a USB slot so external drives can be attached, but is that really going to work? And how many people are going to want to have a dirty great USB hard drive (okay, I actually have quite a nice sleek 1TB Seagate drive but I'm not going to be using that for Ouya) sticking out of the back of their console?

Fingers crossed for a revision incorporating an SD slot, then.

An external drive will work.  It can simply be a memory stick, which now come in very small sizes with large amounts of storage, to do the memory expansion for adding software.

Yeah ... still a bit clumsy I reckon. Don't fancy having a memory stick jutting out of it. And will installation to an external drive be made standard? I expect it'll have to be mandatory.
