To be honest, I expect you early adopters will be guinea pigs to some extent. By the time those of us who have held back get around to buying one, I expect all the feedback from you trailblazers will have helped them to streamline it.

Hmm, Trailblazer ... a remake of that would certainly work well on Ouya. (Sorry, I distracted myself there).

The folks from Endgadget have posted a review of the Backer Edition units.  Here is the link to their review:  OUYA review (founding backer edition)

Not the best review but other then the controller it doesn't sound too bad. You can use other bluetooth controllers with it too so not a big deal really.

It is an Endgadget review.  That means that if it isn't made my Apple, they will find any and every fault and make a lot of noise with it.  The controller is not a big deal since any wireless controller will work.  Besides, we are talking about a $99 console here.  This isn't a PS4.  I can't expect $400 quality on a $99 piece of equipment.  :)

I've no respect for what that site has said for years so won't be bothering to read what they have to say, just looking forward trying myself and setting emulators up on my TV, esp as my hacked PS3 bit the bullet, at least I can use the controllers from that on it!

The review is ok but I'd like to see an OUYA review that focuses on the 104 available games. The engadget review lists a few 'highlights' but I don't see anything interesting besides Syder Arcade and the few console ports.

OUYA's competitor, the GameStick, already has some notable game announcements for their launch lineup. Shadowgun will be included with their system, and their launch lineup includes other established games like Raiden Legacy and Riptide GP as well as the Android ports of R-Type and Another World.

I think there are plenty of quality console-style exclusives available for Android but are they headed for OUYA or will it be flooded with endless casual gamer phone fodder. How lame are these first 104 titles? Why isn't there a games list on the OUYA site? I couldn't even find Syder Arcade release info until Studio Evil replied here. Regardless of the specs or controller quality, the reason to buy a console is for the games, right?

They have a very extensive lists in their forums.  I've posted a link to that here.

Today's update:

Project Update #21: Our loyal supporters

OUYA is shipping! I know you are anxious to play and probably want to know when to expect yours. Here’s the plan:

We began shipping last week, 3/27 in fact. We had two days of manufacturing and then we had to stop for Easter. This week, we got 3 days of work and then had to stop for the Qingming Festival. I know this sucks but we will be picking up the pace.

Starting next week, we will be building and shipping units 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Also, we are bringing on new vendors to help us deliver faster. However, we will not sacrifice quality for speed.

The rollout will be as follows: We are starting with the standard OUYA unit (grey console+controller), then working on the Kickstarter exclusive units and units with more than one controller.

Also, every Friday, on our blog ( http://www.ouya.tv/blog ), we will update you on our progess and plan. As of today, we plan on making our final delivery in May. In fact, until now we were sending shipping alerts only when your shipment left the assembly line. Because you asked for it, we will now send out pre-shipping alerts a week before to let you know your order is queued up.

We appreciate your continued support as we deliver your OUYA -- and know that every day there are more games for you to play! That’s the best part. :)

Thank you,

Julie

I'm starting to really regret ordering the second controller with mine. First there was the bad review of it and now I see that the units with only one controller will be shipping first! I'm trying to remain positive as I know they're a new company starting out and it can't be easy to undertake such a huge project but to hear that they won't have them all shipped till May is really pushing it!  :20:

well Guys, i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is not good..not by a long shot, and I was considering one of these later on in the year, ohh well just have to stick with my Android TV, with the best of everything and was a fraction of the cost of OUYA, but this review is based on Kickstarter backers version of the product, but I fear the retail version will fair no better

I will take that review with a brick of salt.  It almost seems as if these people just want the OUYA to fail and feel justified in saying so. The product being sent to Kickstarter supporters does not even have final software and the full library of games is not out either.  I will grant the issues they talk about with the controller but I think they are judging it too harshly when the product is not truly finalized (at least from the software side) yet.

OUYA is still in the Beta testing phase, the official release is not until it goes to retail I believe. Most of the problems seem to be quite minor and can be sorted out. To criticise the HD capacity when the whole point was to be able to use an external HD to save on cost is frankly ridiculous, especially when it its still a more useful size than the base model PS3 and Wii U.

Not to mention that review is on a site I have never heard of and has a number of grammatical errors, for that reason it's hard to take seriously.
