Game Boy transformed into Android controller

An enterprising console modder has created a physical controller for Android smartphones using a Nintendo Game Boy and a Wii Remote.

Instructables poster Chad Boughton placed the Wii controller inside the gutted-out shell of an old Game Boy to serve as the peripheral's Bluetooth interface.

The retro-themed controller will work with any game thanks to its compatibility with the Wii Controller IME application available through Google Play.

"I wanted to play Nintendo emulators on my phone, but did not like the touchscreen input. I've heard this complaint time and again, all over the net," said Boughton.

"I've seen some great-looking commercially produced solutions, but I wanted something more. I wanted to enhance the experience by actually playing on classic Nintendo hardware, and at the same time not having to plug in via USB. Not to mention I love making things."

The controller was designed for use with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but its creator claims it can be modified to run with virtually any Android tablet or smartphone.

Cool! I suppose the price of old Gameboys will shoot up now but at least someone has found a use for the old GB.
