Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon listed on XBLM for May 1, stars Michael Biehn[/align:1g3vtkoh]
Ok so this started as what people thought was an April Fool, but not only is Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon very real and very, very neon, it also could be here in just over three weeks. The 80s-inspired Far Cry 3 spin-off emerged on the Xbox Live Marketplace this weekend, where its release date is listed as May 1. The listing confirms Blood Dragon as a standalone shooter which won't require a copy of Far Cry 3, likely only to be single-player given its online features are restricted to "leaderboards."

More important than that, or the confirmation of previously leaked screenshots (see the gallery below), is that Blood Dragon features the radness of Michael Biehn, he of Kyle Reese in Terminator and Corporal Hicks in Aliens fame. Biehn's starring role is just a part of the "80s VHS vision of the future" that is Blood Dragon, according to the XBLM listing:
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80's VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who's fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon doesn't require a copy of Far Cry 3.

In-game footage leaked earlier on today but it seems Ubisoft is clamping down on the leak, as the original footage has been deleted. However, the videos have resurfaced elsewhere.
In case you still had any doubts, 30 minutes of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon footage emerged online this morning. It comes from a PC version of the game, which we understand as probably obtained via Ubisoft's uPlay servers. Either way, the video showcases the very different-looking Far Cry 3 spin-off, complete with cheesy retro cutscenes and - NSFW - sometimes colorful uploader language.[/align:1g3vtkoh]
another leaked video with awesome cut-scenes:

Big fan of the Far Cry series and anything inspired by the 80's so this looks really cool!

It really does or the Rambo cartoon
New live action trailer for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a mix of Tron, Kill Bill, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and glorious 80s electronica. Yes, that's a good thing:

So the game appears to be getting rave reviews all round:
Joystiq - 90
Parody's a thorny thing, tricky to execute and often limited in appeal. It's to Ubisoft Montreal's credit that Blood Dragon broadens the appeal of its source, thanks to a hilarious, accessible dollop of nostalgia, coated in the mechanics that made Far Cry 3 great. This easily could've been a great idea greenlit into something terrible. We do love it when a plan comes together.
Eurogamer - 90
Blood Dragon wears its idiocy like a shield. With its mechanisms borrowed from a bona fide blockbuster and its cornball retro swagger rendering any artistic criticism surplus to requirements, all that's left is to have fun, and that's in plentiful supply. Blood Dragon condenses all the best bits of Far Cry 3, sprinkles them with cheesy nonsense and blazes its way through to a finale that will leave you grinning like a loon.
Game Informer - 85
Like many of the '80s action flicks it mimics, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has the potential to alienate people with its crass sense of humor and repetitive one-liners. But if you long for an era when smart-mouthed badasses were more concerned with making things go boom than catering to your social sensitivities, Rex Power Colt is your man, and Blood Dragon is your game.
GameSpot - 85
You don't have to love the decade of Rubik's Cubes and Pac-Man Fever to get a kick out of Blood Dragon. But if you do, then all the better: this action-packed shooter will strike all the right synth-pop power chords.
