Here’s hoping you’re fueled up and ready to go. SEGA announced today that the popular arcade game After Burner Climax will be making its way onto iOS devices.
The title is a sequel to the original aerial dogfight game, After Burner, that took much of my weekly allowance at the arcade in the 1980s. Arcade fans will remember the original game and its unique (at the time) rotating cockpit. After Burner Climax started out as an arcade game in 2006 and was ported to the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in 2010.

SEGA wasn’t forthcoming regarding any other information about the title. Short of the pictured screenshot, the blog post only said that the game will be arriving at “mach speed.” We will let you know if we hear anything more about specific release date and price information.
I’m excited to see SEGA porting another fun title to the iOS platform, as I ever got this on the xbox360, which I think they should of released on disc along with Outrun 2 SP as a comp. Two recent releases from the company, Crazy Taxi and Virtua Tennis Challenge, have easily become two of my favorite games on my Ipad 2.
I expect this would work very well with tilt controls, just as Bombshells: Hell's Belles does. Fingers crossed for a little green robot version here...!
Might have to check that out.
Amazing looking screenshot
I forgot to repond to this thread, I got this about 3 weeks ago, well my verdict on this, is well there is no doubt about it, it's definvity an high action arcade game just und,r match the arcade, but has set out to capture the essence of the its arcade counter-part, but I found it a little boring, although its lightening fast , it just didnt seem to be a full filling game for the asking price and longevity, the arcade original was designed to be a five minute thrill ride, the tablet version is more like a 5 minute snooze ride, good for achieving near perfect arcade conversion, but not what it set itself out to do, which is a real shame, comparing it to likes of Crazy Taxi. Dam shame there is no prospects to convert Out Run 2 iOS , now that would be a thrill ride in your hands
Thanks for the update Greyfox!
The review in Retro Gamer said pretty much the same thing
This did actually show up in the Google Play store for a short while before being pulled, as apparently a lot of people were getting forced closes.
