10 games for the Wii you haven't played, but should

(@guest4826)

Yeah, a retro game site with the Wii? Not so fast. With the clock winding down on the console any day now and Nintendo focusing on the Wii-U somewhat these days and third party all but left the system begind, it's fun to look back at titles like the re releases of the remade Resident Evil games, cleaned up even more, or Punch Out, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, or the Zelda and Mario games. Still, with the bad reputation that the system has gotten over the years for being piled high with shovelware, there are quite a few really well made games that were piled in with this pile unfairly that many gamers completely missed out on because they weren't willing to take a chance or possibly because of lame box art that really made the game look very bad. So, while the Wii games are in the bargain bin and dirt cheap on EvilBay and Glamazon, these titles listed here might just be worth checking out for your game sweet tooth of stuff most people haven't seen. These titles will also probably end up being "R@R3Z" one day, so don't say I didn't warn you.

10.) JU-ON The Grudge Haunted House Simulator - Okay, for those of you that know me, you know I have an affinity for horror games. Yeah, fine, but here we are with an exceptionally good one that slipped through the cracks. You'd be surprised how many people don't even know it's out there. Make your way through a Haunted House, that's it. The Wii Mote works as your Flashlight, and I'll tell you this, I even got pretty spooked out playing it. The game is dark, moody, and the music is very good and appropriate for it. Jumps abound, get ready for some spooky fun if you pick this one up.

09.) Ocean Commander - This is one of those unfortunate games that people see the cover for and they just pass it off as a piece of crap without even looking at the back o9f the box. It's got like these horrid looking cartoon robot sharks on it and, yeah, it's a mess. Reminds me as bad as some of those original master System boxes. This game though is actually a side scrolling shooter. I am not going to tell you that this is the most amazing shooter ever made, so don't expect this to be up with stuff like R-Type Final or Radiant Silvergun, but it is a well made game with very good graphics, tight controls and some unique gameplay Qualities. It is worth checking out especially since it can be had for pennies on the dollar.

08.) ThruSpace - Yeah, so now I have gone and done it! I have listed one of the download only titles. Shame o0n me. Before I get the pitchforks and flaming torches thrown on me though, take a second to look at this game. It's not the most brilliantly done game graphical;ly, but it's something new for a Tetrisesque type of game. It;s like the people who made this were fans of Tunnel racers, Tetris and Block-out all at the same time, making it a very refreshing experience indeed. Believe it or not, the game is very deep and get's very difficult very quickly and is well worth the money spent on it.

07.) Obscure: The Aftermath - A sequel to a Playstation 2 and XBOX cult classic, Obscure: The Aftermath is a nicely done Survival Horror from the same control perspective as the original Resident Evil games. What's nice here? no Zombies, if you can believe it. A plant type in the antagonist in this game. And surviving crazed College students that can run and use weapons just like you is actually much more unnerving in some ways that slow, plodding Zombies. The game, again, is dirt cheap, and well worth a look.

06.) Escape From Bug Island - Yup, another classic Survival Horror style game. What makes this game so great though is the fact that it plays like the Dreamcast Cult Classics Blue Stinger and Illbleed. You wake up alone in the woods while on a camping trip and your friends have all disappeared. Can you find them? Can you survive the mutated bugs on the island in the process? Believe it or not, as hokey as the story sounds, it's a very well done game and well worth a play through. The weapons variety and also fun little things like time travel actually really do set this game apart from others in the genre.  Again, the word is cheap in price here people, and well worth the money spent.

05.) The King of Fighters Collection - The Orochi Saga - It's a collection of the King of Fighters Games from 94 all the way through 98. They are actually arcade perfect, and some of them with remixed soundtracks, making it nice. What's nice too is the load times. The PS2 version of this title, for some re4ason, just had some really bad load times, so this was a nice treat. I know it's a fighter, but it didn't sell well because many people actually didn't even know that the Wii had a version of this. It's well worth it, especially if you like having friends over for a brawling sessions. Sadly, there is no Online mode implemented, but it's still a solid title worth checking out if you are an SNK fan from the olden Coin Op days.

04.) Sonic and the Black Knight - Yes, a Sonic the Hedgehog title on the list. "Why?" you may ask for two reasons. A.) You played the Secret Rings, hated it and decided that this one would suck too, or B.) you may have been weirded out by seeing Sonic wi9th a sword in the game. I can say this, the sword fits in with the storyline going on as it is one of the storybook titles. They also made the controls much more traditional over the original game, so really, check it out. Again, dismissed by most due to what they heard, but most of the people talking never even played it in the first place.

03.) Lost in Shadow - One of the final games from Hudson before they had to close up shop and sell the company to Konami because their headquarters were destroyed in the Tsunami of 2011, many people just ignored the game or never saw it sue to very little to no advertising for it at all. The game was a very unique action adventure game where you are a shadow and using fun elements like Light itself to solve puzzles and beat enemies made it very unique at the time. It's a very deep game and  one hell of a swan song for one of my all time favorite game publishers of all time. It's sad that the almost finished Bonk project was destroyed or we might have had one more game. Either way, this game is not to be missed.

02.) Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers - Take a Hokey Japanese film about women running around in Bikini's killing Zombies and make it into a brawler game for the Wii and you have pure gold as a game. Get together with a friend and watch the Mayhem ensue. Kill Zombies in many ways, beat the Hell out of them, and do it all as a sexy woman in a Bikini. The voice acting is cheesy, sleazy, and downright hilarious. Just so you know though, this game is not for children.

01.) Cursed Mountain- Yes, this is my Number One pick. It's an early game from Deep Silver, the studio responsible for the Dead Island Franchise, and easily crafted one of the best, but most overlooked game, in the Wii's entire library. I still don't know how this game slipped off of people's radar. It did so poorly that the XBOX 360 version was completely scrapped. It's a Survival Horror game, but again, having nothing to do with Zombies at all. You play the role of a man on a desperate mission top rescue his missing brother from a town in the Himalayan Mountains. When you get there, the town is deserted. Ghosts are everywhere and the higher you climb, the worst it gets. The game is shrouded heavily with atmosphere that most game companies would beg to have and by looking at it, you can tell that much work was actually put into the game. The controls are outstanding, the graphics are nice, and the music in the game is just downright creepy. Spring for the Collector's Edition if you can still find it. The steel box with the making of DVD and Soundtrack are well worth it. If there is one game on this list that is extraordinarily sad that people didn't play, it's this one and prices are starting to show as it's slowly going up in "Value" as people finally discover this Gem. I know it's not super expensive yet, but kno0w that I got my Collector's Edition brand new a couple years ago for $6.00. It's running at $15.00 thus far from the last I saw. This game should be in any Wii collector's collection, especially if you like Horror games of any kind.
