Hi all!

For those who have Vectrex systems, there is someone who has made reproductions of the overlays for the Vectrex games.  This is cool as it allows those of us who have multicarts and/or flashcarts to play the games with overlays so they look as they were intended to.  So, here is the link:  http://www.skywaytwincities.com/Vectrex/Purchase.html

The guy making these posted on AA and there's been a lot of discussion about this, particulary since he can also make custom overlays.  Maybe this will help folks to make homebrew games for the Vectrex!

One cool aspect of this is that now someone can create homebrew games with overlays.  Or someone can even create overlays for existing homebrews!

There are a few homebrews with overlays, but the price is usually jacked up for that 'luxury'. The original release of Protector, Vectrexians, Vector Pilot, Colorclash, and the upcoming Warrior all have them. Might be a couple others too.

They're interesting, but only a few of them are 'must-haves'. Games like Colorclash and Warrior actually integrate overlay colors/objects into the gameplay, which is pretty neat.

As an aside, Fury Unlimited expanded the production run for Warrior to 150 copies yesterday. Might be the only batch ever made since it requires the overlay. It's an expensive homebrew at $65, but I bought one because it'll probably be much more expensive later if there isn't another run. If anyone is interested, I wouldn't wait...

I still remember when the 'new' Warrior arcade game appeared at the local movie theater. I was just a kid, and when my family was ready to go watch the movie I begged to stay in the lobby playing the game. :D

I don't think any of my games have their overlays still - will have to check - mostly unboxed carts
