As for which gaming platform I would never let go then I don't think there is one. It's only video games and they're not that important in the grand scheme of things.

It's just a bit of fun but just to let you know, there is no "grand scheme of things".
Whatever you hold as "important" is ultimately, not, when you're gone.  😉

Having given the thread's subject matter some more thought I've come up with an answer of sorts. The one game from the vast number of games I own that I really wouldn't want to do without is OutRun Online Arcade.

However, as I have that game on PS3/PSN saying that I wouldn't like to do without it is tantamount to saying I wouldn't want to do without PS3... and there's no way I want to list a Sony console in preference to all the others I own!

So my ideal platform would be a Blu-ray Disc player and media hub with built-in OutRun Online Arcade that doesn't have a Sony badge on it! 8) then I'd either go for,

* Jaguar - for the sublime Tempest 2000 using my modified rotary controller, or
* Dreamcast - for the likes of Rez and both Samba de Amigo games using my official maracas contoller setup

:)

I already said Lynx but having thought about it a lot I think I would now find it very hard to get rid of my Jaguar collection given the time I have put into collecting it and taking around the country to shows (my jag is now a minor celebrity  :D)

I think I would have the hardest time getting rid of any of my systems, i'm such a hoarder  :-[

The one that i would most like to keep would have to be the Megadrive as that is the biggest part of all my collection and by far the part that i have spent the most time and money on.

It's unlikey that I'd ever actually sell any of these, but if I really had to....

3DO - The FZ-1 looks so cool though
Master System 1 - Prefer the look of the console, but I added RGB to my MS2 and the picture quality is better
ZX Spectrum 48k - I always use my 128k instead

Everything else is definitely staying  :P

Atari Jaguar
Atari Lynx

Far too many years and money gone into collecting (and still am) for these two to sell them.

I think I would have the hardest time getting rid of any of my systems, i'm such a hoarder  :-[

This too actually.

Although I did sell my Game Gear, Spectrum and Atari 8-bit collection. I sold the GG because it was terrible and offered me nothing except GG Shinobi while I sold the A8 because I was made a very good offer on it and it took up a lot of room and didn't get used. The Spectrum collection went because loading games on it was a pain and emulation for the Speccy is perfect these days. But having said that I would really like to get another A8, probably a XEGS (the console version) and a multi-cart for it.

I did sell my CD-I. Miss it from time to time. The Turbo Graphix-16 would be the system I would part with last if I sold everything.
