I'm sure it's old news to most of you guys, but DOS Games Archive looks like a good site for all your DOS gaming goodies.

I'm not sure if I ever completed Terminal Velocity. I remember going to look for it after playing Hellbender, which came later and was Win95 only.
I got into DOS gaming in the early 1990s. The PC had come of age then. VGA was widespread and used for games. Also soundcards were in PCs. The CDROM shortly followed.
I got hooked on Civilisation on the PC. Having a hard disk to play it on - as opposed to the Amiga version with swapping the disks(yes, you could install it to HD, but not many Amiga owners had a HD at the time). A great game. Not much to show off with its graphics or sound, but a superb turn based game.
Later on it was X-Wing and Tie Fighter on the PC. Not only were the graphics and sound good - but you used an analogue joystick. Yeee haw! Tie Fighter was a favourite of mine. Being on the dark side of the force and having those Tie Fighter ships was so much fun.Â
I loved the adventure games as well. Lure of the Temptress, Day of the Tentacle and Sam and Max were great. Installing to HD was a breeze - especially if you have ever played Monkey Island 2 on the Amiga, and with only two disk drives! When the speech was available(on the CDROM versions) then it moved into a whole different sphere.
I also liked the early X-COM games on the PC. Terror From the Deep was good, but really tough.
Coming to DOS after the Amiga, I was a bit disappointed with the operating system - after all using memory managers and not being able to use long filenames - come on! But once you got use to tinkering with it - and especially with MS-DOS 6.0 and above's multiple startup options - you could get a lot of games working better.Â
