French director Luc Besson (Nikita, Léon, 5th Element, Lucy) is returning to the sci-fi genre with the upcoming film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, an adaptation of the Franco-Belgian graphic novels "Valérian et Laureline, agents spatio-temporel". Valerian was first published in 1967 and is considered one of the many influences behind Star Wars and The Fifth Element.
