I'm surprised no one has started a thread about this movie, so here it is! I'm really looking forward to this! The previews look fantastic and, of course, the Star Trek preview is attached to it (a nice plus for me!).

One of the things I'm looking forward to as well is the music for the movie. Rolling Stone has just posted a preview of the music on their Flash player. If you want to hear it, just click the link: The Hobbit Soundtrack.

Same as fella I can not wait to see this, going as a family soon as we can.
I am really looking forward to this too, its going to be a superb movie I think.
Has anyone clicked to listen to the score? They've actually posted the entire score for the movie on that Rolling Stone page. It is awesome.
A lot is being made of the fact that it is shot in 48 FPS. It does seem a bit much to string a book out into 3 separate 3 hours long films. But I suppose Peter Jackson knows what he is doing.Â
Has anyone gone to see this movie? I saw it opening weekend and enjoyed it. Stunning visuals, as is to be expected and I liked how the story was written. I was very surprised, though, that the theater (an IMAX theater) was not full to capacity on a Saturday night, though. I haven't checked how well it has done money-wise.Â
If it doesn't start in a comfortable, tunnel-like hall, I'm not interested.

Well, it starts in a hobbit house! Does that work? LOL
Sounds about right!
I took my lads last week and it was fantastic for me, maybe a little longer than it needed to be but I can live with that.

I saw it with the wife not long after xmas it was brilliant, I actually didn't have a problem with the length I thought if anything that the Fellowship took longer to get going than the hobbit, and having never read the novel it was lovely to see a new adventure in middlearth and for it to tie up loads of unanswered questions and lose ends from PJ's LOTR trilogy such as what happened to other dwarves in middle earth? Where did Gandalf and Bilbo get their swords... moria etc, I loved it

Been to see it twice now, Not very often I do that and especially so when the Mrs wants to come along for a second viewing too.
Although there were little bits added and taken away, as would happen with almost any book to film conversion, it has been tastefully done. The added parts tie it in well with the LOTR trilogy and brings the level of the Hobbit up from a childrens book to something much more of an adult level.
I finally got to watch this last night, utterly brilliant!
did you see it at the cinema or dodgy download lol... has to be seen at cinema!! Great film
