Yep, the 're-imagined' Battlestar Galactica was very good.  The opening episodes echo 9/11 and it had the whole 'cyclons as terrorists' sub text.  Great to see Dean Stockwell(aka Al from Quantum Leap in it as Father Cavill). 

I suppose some of the later epsiodes were affected by the writers' strike.  I thought that the first season was probably the strongest - episodes like 'Water', '33', etc. 

Razor was interesting as well.  I think there are going to be more spin-offs as well. 

Caprica was interesting but, perhaps a little flawed. 

I've not seen 1980.... don't plan too either!

Apparently E J Olmos directed either Caprica or Razor.  Not sure which :/

I watched this last night, a British gangster flick based on a true story. It was ok but the acting was horrible, some of the worst I have ever seen I think. Would have been nice to have seen some more well known people in it.

I've not seen 1980.... don't plan too either!

BSG:1980 Featured a child genius (who looked like the space ver.of The Milky Bar kid), The Battlestar finding Earth, but holding back as did'nt want the Cylons finding it, time travel, flying bikes, religion, Nazi's, enviromental issues and if my memory serves, the battlestar preventing nuclear war, by deploying a handy laser gr that shot down missiles.

Ah.. flying bikes that looked crap!? I think I maybe did see this back in the 80s, I'd have been about 7 so don't recall it too well. Probably because it was guff.

I can remember having Battlestar Galactica figures!  Never quite to the standard of Star Wars figures but pretty cool.  I'm sure I had some kind of weird, bright pink alien character. No idea who/what it was but definitely BSG.

I just recently watched Wreck-It Ralph and thought it was FANTASTIC!

I loved it so much, I watched it twice in a row, bought it and the soundtrack from iTunes and, had I been 35 years younger, I'd probably buy the lunchbox and pencil case as well. . (What am I saying! I'll probably buy the lunchbox anyway to replace my Star Wars one I used to carry my lunch to work.)

The classic character cameos were inspired, and even the made up games on which the entire story is based, glow with verisimilitude and recognizable qualities from the various game epochs.

Great movie.  I feel this is a "video game movie" made The Right Way.  Very cool!

Last night I watched Excuse Me For Living, a very enjoyable romcom (although less about the romance) that actually has a pretty original story that sets it apart from other films in the genre. It also has the amazing Christopher Lloyd and Jerry Stiller playing wonderfully eccentric support roles that help raise the bar. Definitely worth a watch if you want something a bit more light hearted.

Last night I watched this :-

It was the 1979 re-make of the film.  Ironically I had only just watched the recent BBC re-make a few days before.  This time around however, it followed the storyline of Hitchcock's version rather than the original novel on which it was based upon(The Wheel Spins).  As such, there were a couple of scenes that were near perfect copies of the earlier version.  The film lacked the chemistry between the two leads that was in its predecessor, as well as missing Hitchcock's magic at directing suspense.  Worth a watch as a curio - especially if like me, you like Hitchcock's version.  However, it can't compare to the original version.

I then watched the following :-

It was an excellent screwball comedy from Preston Sturges.  Like a lot of Sturges' work it had a satirical element to it.  Fonda and Stanwyck were superb.  I think it was probably Fonda's best role(proving that he didn't just appear in Westerns).  It you like romantic screwball comedies then I think you'll like this.

I finally got to watch Jack The Giant Slayer.  Really liked it.  Fun movie.

Last night I watched Anti Viral, a film with an incredibly interesting concept that cleverly mocks the ever increasing obsession with celebrity that people have these days. Problem is that it's just too clever for its own good and leaves the viewer far too much to work out for themselves. It never really explains itself or how anything actually comes about leaving you a little confused and bemused by it all. Could have been great but ended up being pretty meh.

I watched the following last night :-

It starred Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper.  Directed by Frank Capra.  Like a lot of Capra's work it did have quite a dark side to it - even though it was a sort of comedy.  It did have a lot to say about how the media can sometimes spin things, as well as dealing with the social problem of unemployment.  Cooper was very good doing his 'average Joe' character(it seems to work well with Capra).  Stanwyck was also good as the hard-nosed reporter in this.
