This film provided last night's viewing, I had never heard of it before but it sounded good from the reviews and the praise was warranted. It's a very original movie that touches on serious matters while still managing to stay light hearted, a rare skill in film making. The cast was brilliant and really helped bring the story to life, very much recommended.

I watched this last night.  It of course has the infamous 'skirt scene'.  But, other than that it was a pretty flat affair.  Like a lot of Billy Wilder's later work it seems to be missing the sparkle of his earlier films.  On a plus note, Marilyn gave a very good performance - Wilder and her always produced good results. 

I watched this last night and enjoyed it far more than I ever thought I would, its a pretty funny teen comedy that has a brilliant cast including the stunning Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Banks. I can see why it got such good reviews, it's well worth a watch.

Dont mind this but Some Like It Hot was always the best Monroe/Wilder film for me, very funny and Marilyn was the perfect comedy actress aswell as being super hot.

Yeah, Some Like It Hot is in a completely different league.  It was Widler and Monroe's best collaboration. 

Anyway, last night I watched this :-

It is not one of Hitchcock's best efforts.  I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that it had so many script re-writes.  Another problem with it is that the characters' motivations don't seem to fit in with the story.  There is a real lack of suspense in the plot as well.  A shame that such a stellar cast is wasted in this film. 

I watched this last week but forgot to post about it. It is a very violent and gory horror film, probably one of the most bloodthirsty I have ever seen. Think Friday 13th meets Saw and you kind of have an idea of what of this film is like. It is certainly not for the faint hearted!!!

I'll look out for The Collection then, the Laird.  As it was from the same writers of the Saw franchise it does look good.

Anyway, last night I watched this :-

It was another screwball comedy from Howard Hawks.  Think Bringing Up Baby and you'll be in the same sort of territory.  Apparently, it is sort of based partially on Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.  I think Barbara Stanwyck was meant to be in the 'Snow White' role.  It was an interesting film but, I think that I liked Hawks' Bringing Up Baby better.

Watched OZ: The Great and Powerful yesterday. The original OZ films were always a guilty pleasure of mine, so I wasnt sure what to expect from this, especially with Sam Raimi at the helm. Im glad to say i was pleasantly surprised. The cinematography is absolutely fantastic, operating in both black & white and full vibrant colour. James Franco was ace as always and Mila Kunis was hot as always. Yes it is a bit of a kids film and will never win any Oscar's but i quite enjoyed it. Im a big fan of origin stories for the most part and im looking forward to see where they take the story in the next films. 7/10

Minerals,  as you are a fan of Oz related stuff, have you watched this :-

It was made by the SyFy channel.  It pops up on there every now and again.  It is available on DVD and Blu Ray.  It's a mini-series and is pretty good. 

The Grey-Not anywhere near as bad as i was led to believe, but then i find Liam Neeson an utterly captivaiting performer.

Remains (Folm based on Graphic Novel)-Knew this would suck, as good as book is, there just was'nt the source material to strech it out over a film.

Gyo:Tokyo Fish Attack-No idea, honestly just no idea WTF to say about this.

Act Of Valour-Decent enough flick on it's own, just drowning in Go USA type Gung Ho crap.

I finished watching Battlestar Galactica the other night.  2 part mini series gives a solid grounding to the characters and story.  The 75 episodes that followed ranged from mediocre to spectacular.  The Vipers are as cool as ever and the Galactica is just an awesome bit of sci-fi history.  Starbuck as a woman?  Well, that took a few episodes to accept but after that I'd have Katee Sackhoff over Dirk Benedict any day!!

There was a bit too much religious and spiritual hokum for me but it didn't detract from my enjoyment.  Overall I'd say this is a compelling series and well worth checking out. 

Don't, like I did, miss out on the 2 part mini series before you start with series one episode '33' or you'll wonder what's going on.  The mini series wasn't available to stream via LoveFilm on the iPad so I missed it!  I later found it on console, Wii or 360, LoveFilm and watched it.

Religion been a key theme since the original series as producer, Glen A.Larson was a mormon, original series was 'pitched' as a series of Bible stories, set in space, called 'Adams Ark', it was re-worked to Battlestar Galactica and influenced heavily by mormon faith sacred texts.

Took me a while to get into the new series, but once there was hooked.You can tell which eps were effected by the writers strike at the time though, some cobbled together plot bits etc.The ending could have done with tying up a good few loose ends as well, espically if you factor in plot items from the spin off eps, Razor, which is superb.

I'm going to get Razor.  It sounds like a nice addition.

Great film, better than I thought it would be though parts were predictable there was plenty to keep you guessing. I am not a big fan of Ms Jolie but in this she was very good. It reminded me of the great spy films of old with a modern twist, well worth seeing if you haven't yet

Razor is a fantastic piece, but the ending throughs up a plot device that's never resolved, gwad dang it!

The writers strike? lol, yep threw a Cylon base star sized spanner into the works in terms of scripts and events unfolding or not...as a result.

We might have escaped Adams Ark, but we still got:Battlestar Galactica 1980!!!!! A wretched creation indeed.
