MGM to reboot Ben Hur

It appears that, in their infinite wisdom, the folks of MGM have decided that the classic movie Ben Hur needed an update.

The original was a classic. I hope do it justice.

It looks like there are some issue with the rights for the original story so this version apparently is a different telling of the story.  It will, of course, have the chariot race but don't expect a remake of the 1959 version that follows that story to the letter.

To me, this is a movie that needs no reimagining or retelling.  It is a true classic.

To me, this is a movie that needs no reimagining or retelling.  It is a true classic.

I've seen the movie so many times on TV over Xmas time I've lost count. I recently bought the fantastic quality Blu-ray Disc release of it too. One of my favourite movies of all-time.

As for any 'remake' then we already had one, in a manner of speaking, back in 2000 with the superb Gladiator!  :P
