On September 8th, 1966, 50 years ago and also on a Thursday, NBC aired the very first episode of Star Trek - The Man Trap. I don't think anyone would have guessed that a TV show about "wagon train to the stars" would have had such a long lifespan or a legacy of an entire move and TV franchise that lives on (with a new Star Trek show coming in 2017!). Star Trek has influenced the lives of many not only by its message of a bright future but by inspiring people to develop technologies we enjoy today, become scientists, become doctors, become astronauts and much more. Here's to 50 more years!
