HooGames2017 is developing Lost in the Middle Ages, an ambitious new Amiga 500 adventure using the Scorpion Engine.

HooGames2017 has revealed its next Amiga project, Lost in the Middle Ages, an adventure platformer being developed for the Amiga 500 using the Scorpion Engine.

The game is set in a medieval world and begins with the arrival of a mysterious outsider at a village. The king appears to know exactly who the stranger is and believes that this unexpected visitor may be the person destined to save the kingdom.

Development is still underway, but several complete stages have already been built. Exploration is a major part of the design, with players able to enter buildings and search for hidden areas and rewards rather than simply moving from one linear platforming section to the next.

The developer is also experimenting with progression systems, including gaining experience by defeating enemies and collecting items. The final size of the game has not yet been fixed while development continues.

HooGames2017 is already known in the Amiga homebrew scene for projects including ARC4NERD, Dr. Dangerous and Phantom Leap, making this one worth keeping an eye on as more of the game comes together.

RVG take: This looks like another promising example of the Amiga 500 continuing to receive genuinely ambitious new software more than three decades after its original commercial life.
