So today was my first real chance to get to grips with the GameGadget. A handheld that has caused a stir around the Internet. Many reasons for that and a lot of it is justified, for me however it's important to note I am a laid back gamer and collector so I guess the GG's failures don't worry me.

Yes the promises of loads of games have sadly not materialised, why this has happened is not easy to explain but it's down to copyrights and we all know how difficult they are to get around.

To be fair I want to focus on the GG, and what it is offers now. Firstly the
Build quality is at best very average! No weight in the system whatsoever until you get the battery inside. Then it begins to feel like a real handheld, the screen had been criticised for its poor viewing angle, but for me that's a very mute point as its perfect at the correct angle and surely we all use handhelds straight on? It's vibrant and so far so good for the games I have played. More on that soon.

You get prompted to activate your GG when you switch it on, this is done via the pc, whilst doing this a program is installed to help manage the installation of games, movies, books and so on.

This is actually an impressive part of the GG. Everything is auto installed ready to you in just on click per game.

I have installed all my 10 free games and installed 10 freeware games that are in the marketplace. All done with this one click. No setup, nothing, just click and play.

The games are brilliant, but they would be whatever I played them on I guess so I can not judge this by that alone.  I will judge it on the package, a package that can play games from the marketplace and roms. The later I have yet to test.  The question is simple is it worth £99? No. Is it worth £59? Yes without a doubt, but not if you believe the hype. You need buy this as though it's a dingoo and your on the right tracks.

Battery life appears good so far, had about 2 hours gaming so far on one charge.

Watch this space as I will do some testing and I am even going to try and do some coding lol. Well why not.

So there you have it, my review. Yes it waffles but I think I make a good case for why I like it. The overall factor is this is like marmite. And you know what that means.

The review is very brief pal, what's the battery life like? , how does it fair in daylight conditions?, what is this ear phones problem, sound quality? Robustion quality? Do you feel it could stand a heavy fall? (not to say to have to d this test lol) , does this device hook up to a tv, and what's the picture and sound quality like?, these type of things need addressing for your pen-ultimate review ;)
