With the sad news that one of the greatest ever British software producers has been closed by Sony I thought it would be great to start a topic for people to share their memories in.

So what are your greatest memories of Psygnosis?

Here are a few of mine:

Blood Money

This game is probably best remembered as a game for the Commodore Amiga but I owned the equally impressive Atari ST version and loved it. This great video shows you both versions and the differences between them.[/align:1uzqsjhk]

Shadow Of The Beast

Again this was a game that became famous on the Amiga, it started off as a graphics demo for the machine! My memory though is of the excellent Atari Lynx version that improved on the original greatly in the gameplay department without losing the stunning graphics and sound that made the game so famous.[/align:1uzqsjhk]

Lemmings

We can't mention Psygnosis without giving Lemmings a mention! My first experience of this game was picking up the double pack for the Atari ST that contained both Lemmings and Oh No! More Lemmings! (shown here). I later had even more fun with the incredibly good Atari Lynx port.[/align:1uzqsjhk]

Ah Lemmings  :) first time I played it was at school in the computer 'lab' on an Archimedes! I battered the Amiga versions later on

The first game I associate with Psygnosis is Wipeout.  I'm not a fan of Wipeout, due mainly to not giving it much time, but for me it's inseparable from it's creators.

Back in the C64 days I remember them for producing Shadow of the Beast on cartridge and releasing a pretty crap Barbarian game.

I suppose any fondness I have for Psygnosis comes from Destruction Derby on the PS.  It's the first game I played on a Playstation that really impressed me.  It made me want to go out and buy a PS just to play that game.

I have great memories of Psygnosis.

Played a lot of Lemmings & Lemmings 2 on the PC and spent even more time watching my sister play them. They were really big games for us.

Also, I'd get up at 5:40am to play Destruction Derby before school. Seriously.

It's Lemmings I mainly think of with Psygnosis. Still go back to it even now. Shadow of the Beast, I've only ever played on the Speccy (ported by Gremlin I think) but from what I gather it was a decent port and I can see why the original game was held in high regard.

I never really played a lot of their 16 bit games TBH as I never had an Atari ST or Amiga...I went pretty much straight from the Speccy to the Mega Drive, SNES and other consoles but I'm still pretty sad to see them go. I did some playtesting for them at weekends with a mate years back when they were first getting in with Sony...they'd get in betas of a lot of the Sony/Imagesoft games and also a lot of Ocean's stuff...mostly SNES and Mega Drive games at the time. More recently, where I live now is only a 5 mins walk away from Wavertree Tech Park where 'Studio Liverpool' is currently based.

I do like the WipeOut games as well, the latest (last?) on PS Vita was really good.

Ah well, least we have the memories and a good back catalogue of games to go through.

No more Microcosm, Puggsy or Wiz 'n' Liz?

Console Compulsive

Gutted they've gone :(

They made one of my favorite Atari ST games, Barbarian (the icon driven platformer not the fighting game), as well as the Colony Wars series, the Discworld games, Krazy Ivan, Lemmings, Terrorpods, Bills Tomato Game, Misadventures of Flink, Captain Fizz meets the Blastotrons and not to forget the Wipeout series.

A sad, sad loss for the games industry.

I really liked the Sega CD games.

Shadow of the Beast on the Amiga was the first Psygnosis game i thought wow thats awesome.. The opening sequence was just epic and ground breaking at the time. I can see my friends now with there jealous faces lol..  Great times, sad days indeed now.

Firstly interesting to see Blood Money ST Amiga comparison, didn't know the ST had different music, of course grew up with Amiga version...also did the ST have the amazing intro on the Amiga version? Remember showing that to my 8bit owning friends and watching their jaws drop!

So many memories for me with Psygnosis, I just loved their whole art style, along with the Bitmap Brothers it was amazing to look at, sure sometimes the gameplay was pretty basic, but on the whole it was a brand you associated with quality.

Blood Money and Shadow Of The Beast were the first games I bought, then of course Lemmings Series, bills tomato game, benefactor, Bobs bad day, Hired guns, Killing game show, Leander, Flink, nitro, Second samurai, Walker, wiz and liz and thats just the Amiga games, they single handed made me choose the PS1 over the Saturn, none of this Ridge Racer shite! Wipeout, Destruction Derby was where it was at in 1995! Later on G-police, Colony Wars, Lomax, Overboard! more DD, more WO, Discworlds, F1.....it was a great 10-11 years of games 89-99 RIP Psygnosis.

It has a brilliant intro, not sure if its the same. The ST version is incredibly impressive considering the lack of any custom hardware.

Blood Money and Shadow of the Beast were among my first Amiga games, and mind blowing at the time. Later stuff like Walker was really impressive too.

Sad to see another company from my youth gone.

As many other's have said Blood Money and Shadow of the Beast were the first that sprung to mind.  Blood Money especially got a lot of game time form me.

Thought i'd look into all the games they did to see what else jumped out as no doubt i'd have forgot some games they did that i really enjoyed.

I see they only published it but i never noticed at the time they were associated with Alundra on the PS1 which i thought was ace.

Other games that jump out were Menace, Ballistix, Leander and although it wasn't one of my favourites a good m8 always raved about Agony.

We've lost some great companies in this industry but thankfully we still have the games and the memories.....
